Well it depends. If they actually knew how to use an apostrophe and didn't butcher the English language, I would give them a pass. Otherwise, it would be a bit messier.

The hotel room scene in Scarface comes to mind regarding what I'd do to someone who stole my F-car.

used ferrari worth from 30k to 200k, plus, most of you have insurance, so not much out of pocket loss.

Meanwhile, many have lost hundreds of thousands and millions in enron, worldcom, tyco stock due to fraud by senior managment, so who really deserves a beating?

get a persepective guys, it's only a car.

A car is not only your mode of transportation, but to an enthusiast it is also your fun. If anyone ever, ever tried to steal my car...when I found them they would get beaten into submission and would nead counseling for the rest of their lives because of the things I would say to them. I could break them so hard mentally it isn't even comprehensible.

Call the cops and don't waste my time agonizing about the thief. It is a car, and there are plenty of good 348's available as replacements if the car is messed up. I would forgive, that is better for me.

Don't worry, they will return it after they find out how much the maintenance cost.

Though I initially thought this thread was pointless - and it may still be :) - what if the Ferrari in question weren't a 348 or a 550 Maranello...? What if your Ferrari, stolen by some thief, was a one-off car, like 0719 or the Breadvan...? Furthermore, what if said thief totalled said one-off...? Then what...?

Sure the insurance company will cut you a check, but there goes that huge piece of Ferrari history you worked so long and hard for... What then...? I imagine some anger - rage even - would be warranted, no...?

There was a 250 GTO that was stolen here in Georgia years ago... I know that's not a one-off, but what GTO owner is going to want an insurance check over a GTO if the car is stolen...?

I think the law for death penalty should count from even stealing a beer at 7/11.

Was hoping someone would steal my Maserati, at least I would have gotten back what I paid for it.

I guess there should be a better punishment system than jail for theives. If I owned a super rare Ferrari and was interested in the history it carried etc... as you are saying I would propose the following. A sentence for the thief that would include the thief doing whatever 'work' was required by the victim for a period of say 15 years??? That should be plenty of time for the perp to understand the effort you speak of. I know the idea of beating some sense into a thief is attractive, but it puts you down at their level and that is not good. Sorry to get kind of P&R on you, but that is how I feel.

I know that feeling...had a Maser with a buddy of mine and could not give it away and it was rare, exotic and gorgeous...no interest, no market, really surprising...

Not P&R at all, I know exactly how you feel... The idea of beating someone senseless appeals only to anger and would only make the victim feel good for the moment... There's still gobs of history lost at the end...

I like the idea of making said thief work for 15 years... That could yield a true and genuine understanding for just how much a material possession can mean to someone and what its intrinsic value really is...

Suprisingly I have plans to buy another. Resale aside, best bang for the buck on the market currently.

    Depends on where I am...
When I'm home,my cars are always out of sight on private soil, and most of the time my truck is in front of them,to block them off....When I'm out,I always try to stay close to the Ferrari I took on that occasion, and keep eye contact...not that I am afraid of theft, but vandalism....I remeber 12 years ago,I saw a guy with a 308 GTB QV with a nice huge "KAPITALIST" writing on his right rear fender...
If it happens at home,I would grap my shot-gun and do what I have to do...
If I get any response,I would shoot at them...even if it would bless up the car.I have dreamed of these cars for 20+ years, letting these type of guys doing their crime, and doing nothing would be impossible for me!
