If they used a 308 in 2007, he would NEVER be able to catch (or get away from) the bad guys.

I think Owen Wilson would make a better Magnam,
Isn't Aflac some kind of duck on TV? I didn't know the Ducks name was Ben.....

Magnum was as bigger hit this side of the pod as yours...

I seriously doubt any remake will be upto scratch, these things are best left in the passt where they were great, not the future where they tend to be poor.

    Still

Selleck in a turbo zimmer frame anyone?

Selleck is still the man, but I'd like to see a new F430 and bring the movie to modern times. Kind of like the new Miami Vice movie.

One thing is I think LL Cool J was born to play the part of TC.

Somehow I feel like a 355 Spyder would be the perfect car. Updated but sill a link to the past. The 360 and 430 are too modern.

I still can't think of someone that could replace Selleck. Ben Affleck is an OK actor, but I can't get past the Vinne Babarino look that he usually has on his face, plus he's the wrong build. Selleck is a big guy. George Clooney is better, but still not quite right. Selleck is a little rougher around the edges. Vince Vaughn might be a little closer, he's 6'5", has the right build, and has the kinda-goofy side of him that Selleck has. I can't see him in the mustache, but I could see him pulling off Magnum.

Yep, that's it for me - Vince Vaughn in a red 355 Spyder.

get ready to sell your 308s once the movie is released as i'm sure there will be a temporary boost in demand and price.

Totally agree... Just thought it would be nice to see a 288 GTO in a new movie. To me it would make a better replacement if you still wanted to keep the 308 "look". I'd much rather see and hear a 288 GTO over a 308 GTS. I could give a crap about facetime for the lead actor. But, as I posted before, Hollyweird will surely go for a new spider.

Obviously won't be Selleck...but...I am just saying if here... knowing hollywood...so don't get too upset....but if Porsche, BMW or even GM (corvette?) were to pay the producers a boatload of cash for product placement and promotional tie-ins....it is not a forgone conclusion that he has to drive a 308 or a f-car ( OK to us it is but money talks) remember...they had Bond, James Bond...driving a BMW not a Aston...(can you imagine that blasphemy!) I don't know if Ferrari is willing to pay up for product placement ( or marketing dollars ) beyond a dealer or factory slipping them a vehicle or two to destroy. A screen writer might be tempted to "update" the story with the "modern day" equivilant of a 308 (let's hope I am wrong). Get the picket signs and boycotts ready... wonder what the modern day 308 is..we all think it is a 430, but does the 430 represent exactly what the 308 did...the hot sportscar for the young turks. Personally, I would love to see a "factory restored" 308 time machine on the screen...what would that do for 308 auction prices? If I am right..get off the fence and fill your garages now...don't say I didn't warn you...no matter how this falls though I would bet the car would be red.

I like the "Stable of cars" idea, with the old 308 GTS in the row of cars.

In all reality, with accountants now running Hollywood, it will probably be a car that is sponsoring or is paying for "Product Placement" and I don't think I have seen any Ferrari adds on TV.

Porsche already tried the blank check thing with them back in the day over a 928. It didn't work then and I hope it won't now.

Besides, it HAS to be a Ferrari for the show to be true. You can't change major aspects and still call it Magnum. If they go with Porsche or BMW how about they also change Magnum to a girl and set it in Ohio too?

A lot of this is going to depend on what their intentions are for the movie. If they do it right, it could become a cinema "franchise" good for 2,3 or 4 films. My problem with using a current-era Ferrari is that, despite being unique, we see them too much on television and in print. You've got dip$hits like Paris Hilton and Kevin Federline driving all over Hollywood looking for a camera to mug for.

Now, I see Tom Sellick playing an honorary role like Robin Masters (unseen on the show, but...). Or perhaps as the father of the current Magnum, having kept the cherished 308 in top working order all these years, updating it regularly so that it performs like a modern Ferrari. And you can envision the scene where they go to the garage, Magnum the father pulling away the cover that reveals the red beauty for Magnum Jr.

If Tom Selleck wsa to play Magnum, they would have to change things a bit because it would be pretty pathetic to still have Thomas living in Robin's guest house at 60. :) I'll have a hard time swallowing anyone other than Tom Selleck playing Magnum but concede that he's really getting too old to play the kind of Magnum that they would want for a movie. I agree with everyone else who said they have to at least keep a red Ferrari in the movie. It'll be a 430 spyder if it's set in the present or it'll be a 308 GTS if in the past. If they use the 308, it will give our cars a bump in value...but I'm not selling mine! :)

I think having Selleck in the movie as another character is a good idea. Maybe the guy at Navy intelligence that Magnum is always trying to get intel from. Or perhaps a Navy admiral or something.

Which ever car they use, i hope they keep the car red. :) The new Miami Vice movie due out soon, guys are saying that they used a grey F430 Spyder for the movie. They should have used a white F430, or painted the grey one white. It had to be white!!!! Lol :D
