    Cool thread! :):)

So far I've been very lucky:
AC stoped working - pulled out the fuse, rubbed it a couple of times with my fingers...PROBLEM SOLVED, 5 min.

The wire for the passenger door snapped, got a brand new one from the UK
£12 - fixed it myself :D (a bit tricky job though)

Clutch replacement is not really a "problem" it's a standard thing to do -
I'm doing mine right now, I've ordered new tripple rings and muffler gasket from the UK, £29 + rebuilding the discs...ca 70USD pr.disc (in Oslo)
...oh...this job will also cost me a crate of beer for my friend who are helping me...(JEFF & ERNIE, you did NOT read this) :D:D:D:D:D

    I think that's it....for now :)

Busted gear box. The pinon gear was destroyed because of a busted bearing on the tranny oil pump side of the mainshaft. As well as 4th and 5th gear biting the dust because of the bearing.

Busted rear axle bearing, flange, and CV boots.

A broken shift leaver, but that may have been longer than 18 months ago.

Oh yeah and busted left hand side radiator, the big one.

Oh and yet another one, a sett of spark plug wires

The cost? I don't even wanna look at the reciepts. But it's well over $3500. It would have been closer to $20,000 if I had to take my gearbox to the dealer, or anything else for that matter. Good thing have the balls to rebuild my gear box. Of course with the help of that fat bastard BillyBob:D

In 16 years of owning the 348........

other than services and the usual nickle dime electrical stuff the car has been bullit proof. Except for a little gearbox problem............it has blown up twice. Once in 1995 and once last year. The first time Ferrari gave me $9K worth of parts. This time we updated the failed bits with the improved parts from the 355. Ready for another 16 years!!

    nothing too bad:
    1. high idle - move the d*mm carpet $0
    2. replaced the po's ugly after-market shifter with original - cheap
    3. clutch bearing - not $0
    4. a/c could be recharged - later
    5. clock flashing - 12 months to get to it, now fixed - $0
    6. one driving light is burnt out - a $
    7. driver window is slowing down - later
    8. driving illness - can't stop driving her: maybe 5,000 miles this month, also not $0

I've got more $ invested in detailing this year than maintenance. But coming up on the belt mileage - that'll be $$$

Definitely more than a Honda but not nearly as bad as I thought it'd be - and I'm completely dependent on my mechanic for everything - without shame.

    Guys..

So why does the 348 get a bad reputation for reliability?
