Does anybody have, or know where I can find, a USED muffler (2 inlet type) for an '81 308? I have called around and seem to only find people wanting to sell a complete NEW exhaust system for $XXXX money.

Has anyone replaced their stock exhaust with a Tubi/Ansa/etc... and has the old one laying around...and willing to sell such?

Anyone got a wrecked 308 (or know where one is) that might have such on it? I have tried the old stand bys (T. Rutlands, Ferrari Parts Exchange, etc...) but no luck yet.

PM me if you can help. Thanks!

    George

What/where are you trying to go wich a wrecked "stock" exhuast?

    Develope your own system?

I'm just curious, I did my own separated dual set-up with some magnaflows...sounds great.

Do a search on 308 exhuast, flowmaster

Ditto. 22" Magnaflow. Cost approx: $250 at Reseda Muffler

    308geo,

I also have the old glasspacks, if you don't mind blasting your ears out! They do sound great though. I just couldn't take it.

    PM me if you're interested.

So true. When I had my 308, I had a dual-inlet to single tip Flowmaster installed. $350 for the FM and $700 for an extremely well made pipe system to the tip. It sounded awesome and looked pretty sweet. Kind of a poor man's Tubi!

Thanks to all for the replies.

This is not for my 308; I sold my '81 308 a few years ago...it had a Tubi w/ test pipes & sounded GREAT!

This is for a close friend's '81 308. He has had a lot of work done on it & the last finishing part he needs is a decent muffler; his is "shot" but barely functional. His wife & I are sneaking around behind his back to get the car ready to be "presented" to him (it has been at a shop for a few years) for his upcoming 40th birthday. Funds are not really in the cards at this time for a Tubi/ Ansa/etc... we just want to get the car up & going. I am sure a newer system will come later.

I am following up with those that have said they might have what we need, but we do not have one with a "done deal" yet.

    Thanks again,
    George

PS: If anyone has ANY idea of who's car we are playing with, please don't tip him off....this is a SURPRISE! He does not check in on F-Chat often enough to find this...I hope.

George, can you give me a few more thoughts about your experience with the Tubi in your old 308? I have an '84 QV and am considering putting a Tubi in. I posted another thread in this section a few days ago called "Looking for a Tubi" --sorry if you already responded there, I may have just forgotten. If not, I'd love your opinion on whether it was worth the expense. Seems like you liked yours...

    Thanks!
    J.

    Friends,

Back in July I made this request. Many of you offered & a few had what we needed, but we did not find the right item & decided to wait for awhile. My friend NOW needs a muffler(ie: ready to buy!) for his '81 308. A "2 in-4 out" model. Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
You can reach me (George) at 214.629.1299 or Rory (the 308 owner) at 972.955.3403

He is willing to pay a fair price right away. NO! I am not making any $$$ off this; just trying to help a friend find what he needs to get his 308 on the road (where it belongs:) )

    Thanks,
    George

    Hey George,
Did you guys find a muffler?
Mine will be coming off my Mondial to get replaced here shortly. It's a European model with no cats, but it's a bit loud for my taste. It's ceramic coated bright silver if that's of any value to your friend. It's not perfect, but I'll sell it cheap. I'd rather see it go to use than go on the scrap metal heap.

I have a "timevalve" muffler for a 308. It came with the second car I bought, and I never installed it. Its all stainless, and cost something north of $1K. The inlet pipes to the headers came seperate to be welded on. I dont know why they did it that way, but you'll need to have a guy who can weld fit it to the car properly. I can get some pics if anyone is interested. Anyway, its simular to my Ansa in construction, but no idea of its sound.

308geo has first dibs, at $500, and if he dont want it, first guy who PM's me after he gives a yea or nay.
