There was mention on SPEED during qualifying that not only does France ban tobacco advertising but also alcohol.

This is a great slap in the face for Michelin, out staged on their own turf. Way to go Ferrari MS and FM front row.

Would love to see a repeat of USGP with once change FA DNF

wow great result for Ferrari! I'm stoked.

All it will take is for Alonso to have a DNF and MS to win, and the championship is red hot again. I REALLY REALLY hope MS can win it this year. He surely deserves it and Alonso really is overdue for a DNF. I guess Alonso will charge hard going into turn 1 and I hope Massa presses the issue and forces FA to let up or go off :)

Hopefully Renault are light and Ferrari can run longer and dominate.

So, Mosely should be commended for the changes to Qualifying format? Also, call me a skeptic, but with everyone in F1 running around in Indy talking about how the supreme goal is to 'provide entertainment to the fans' right now in F1....it makes me wonder just how much showmanship is going on. Would Renault turn down the speed to provide a better show, with the Champ'ship still comfortably in hand? The thing about this Bridgstone resurgence that doesn't make sense is that the 'transformation' came after Montreal, and coincidentally, when the world was beginning to lose interest. Oh well, maybe it is an academic issue b/c the show is what counts, and right now, we have a good show to watch! Too bad qualifying was at 3 am in U.S.!

Well, this qualifying will probably prove to be more entertaining than the race. ;)

Notice that, between US and France, we've now had three on-track passes for the lead in qualifying.
How many have we seen in races?

Tomorrow will likely be all about pit strategies.

Yes, the new format is entertaining: for novelty value. Once the teams adjust, it'll probably go back to being boring. None of these new formats have stood the test of time.

But I loved seeing Trulli go P1 in Q2 in a Toyota, and outqualify the driver who got his Renault seat on the grid. Now that's a man with a mission. ;) (In yer face, Flab. :p)

Ferrari changed their launch package to get better starts. Since there's no launch control, I don't know how they're doing it, but it was reported as part of the upgrades for this race (along with new engine cowling and other aero, plus an additional 30 hp.)

Hopefully Ferrari can gain some points on Renault. I want this WDC and WCC to be determined in the last race!

I was very proud that Massa was able to do a surgical strike and slot in for 2nd!! Hopefully he can hold the quick-off-the-line Renault of Alonso back and let Michael do his thing!

Actually, the Bridgestone resurgence isn't all that nonsensical. Remember in Monaco BS constructed a super-soft tire that they believed would prove advantageous against Michelin. The problem was the temperatures on the track didn't cooperate with what they needed. What we are seeing in the last two races is the tires in their opimal track condition (above 93-degrees F) so the grip level is improved.

Michelin is woofing about race pace tomorrow and their belief that the BS won't hold up. I'm inclined to believe the tires are probably similar to the Monaco and USGP ones. We'll find out tomorrow.

Wow. This is great. I really didn't expect to see this prior to qualifying. Bridgestone really stepped up here. Now we have to see if they can keep it up on race day.
