Good show, lots of F-cars, lots of Porsches (including the CGT), few Lamborghinis, amongst others. Pictures are going up at http://santanarow.mvagusta.net/ This will be an interesting discussion about the Murcielago Roadster I cannot believe what happened, best of luck in resolving everything.
Some gal backed out of her parking spot in a Mercedes and ran into the silver Murci roadster. To compound the felony she then tried to drive off, and had to be physically prevented from doing so. She then left her car and ran off into Santana Row. She was apprehended by the police. Rumor has it she is not licensed and refused a breathalyzer test. In any case, it was a very distressing sound to hear in that environment, everyone was sick to their stomach. Fortunately damage appears to be confined to the bumper and headlight lens. Gary
Ouch! That's too bad, hope the repair isn't difficult. That would be kind of early in the morning to be drinking, but I suppose if you have to drive a Mercedes it does sort of make sense.... Deane
Chris and I saw her drive in with a male passenger as we were parking our cars. That was at 8:30am. I am almost sure one of them had a little digital camera with them. They didn't arrive early to get a good spot for shopping.
I'm sure there are more (and better) pictures of the car, but here's a quick shot. If the owner would prefer, I can remove the pic later.
Unbelievable. I keep thinking everyone should move to the other side of the parking lot. The side everyone is parking on starts filling with Santana Row shoppers at around 9am, while the other side remains pretty much vacant.
Glad you guys caught this lady, Omid is this your cousins car? if it is I can take care of it. Bob Willis Performance Art
I figured it was only a matter of time until something happened. Sad to see my thoughts actually came true though. I agree that we should move the meet to the lot one section back. That way it is less likely for the public parking to be impacted. Seeing as it's not official, we can't really tell people not to park or drive through the gathering, so leaving them an option that is clearer and easier for them, it may cut down on the possibilities of this again. Also, I think part of it is due to the fact that people show up and leave whenever they feel. I like how it isn't a strict set time, but now that most people don't even show up til 8:30 or 8:45.. that is pretty close to shop opening times. The later that the show starts and ends, the more chances of the public imposing on it. My 2 cents.
That sucks! Sorry to hear about what happened. I agree we should move it towards the other side of the lot. I guess it's time for us to speak to SR Marketing and Security. Let's see if we can get permission to place cones to block part of the parking lot for "show cars" only. Nice pics and turn out! I also see more women in the crowd.
Apparently she was already on probation, and drunk at 10am. This is why she tried to flee the scene. Absolutely crushing but the owner seems to be taking it in stride and went for a drive later. Nothing bubble gum and duct tape can't fix. Nice seeing a bunch of the usuals and meeting new folks. --Dan
By the way the blue (sera? azzuro cali?) 330GTS takes tops award for sexiest car there, imo. I didn't get a chance to meet the owner but the car looked absolutely stunning. --Dan
Rick - Great pictures, man! Thanks for posting them! I absolutely *love* that Spyder of yours... So cool.
Thanks, Dan! It's tourbillon (whirlpool) blue - we sprayed out about 10 colors until we got it right. The hides are old Connoly, even when they were still around in 1998 they didn't make that color any more, I was lucky the upholsterer found it. That was a fine collection of rolling art today, wish I could own one of each! I can hear Lambos and Maseratis starting to call my name....must resist... Deane
Here are some shots from my Canon S410 ... not quite Lacir- nor Damage-quality pictures but it'll have to do ... First up, some group pics. Some pics of Deane's tourbillon blue 330GTS ... oh so beautiful car. These pics (and the harsh light) doesn't do the car justice: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
More of the crowd, starting with Rick's Blue 328GTS. Then we have a Speedster and an original Mini! Deane, Absolutely stunning. I have never heard of tourbillon blue - while I assume it is a period color, do you know more about the history? I have a sick fascination with the blues. You're lucky indeed on finding the Connolly hides - I'm surprised there hasn't been a massive uptick in the prices of the few remaining hides. Kudos. --Dan
