So here's a story. Went to Borgata last night, my friends 21st was a few days ago. We kept getting carded and were told if we go to security they will give us stamps so we don't have to keep taking our ids out. NJ changed their license format a while ago, but I didn't get one since mine doesn't expire for another year. Well apparently I don't look like my id, my height was off... I'VE GROWN! They also asked me to verify my signature... IT'S CHANGED!... plus I had a good buzz going on and didn't remember how I had signed it. So I wasn't told to leave but I couldn't step foot on the carpet (where all the gambling goes on) or I'd be kicked out.

You should have had a paving stone or something and placed it on the carpet and stood on that. Your not standing on the carpet then are you?

    to summarize...

    1. you have the old format license... (no big deal, by itself, as it isn't expired)
    2. But, you don't look like you picture AND the height doesn't match
    3. AND your signature didn't match

What would you expect them to do?

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a shame. But I'm not sure what choice they had. I mean, letting you verify you signature since the picture and height were suspect seems pretty reasonable,... but when that's off too...

Sorry,... got to go with the casino on this one.

Your post reminded me of a funny story that happened to me a while back, when I was too young to get in a local casino...

Across the border in Windsor, Canada, they opened a casino in 1994. Shortly after they opened I wanted to go, but was only 18 yrs old (you had to be 19 to get in), so I borrowed a friend's ID who looked somewhat like me. Before we went to the casino, we had been drinking in a few Canadian bars and I had gotten slightly buzzed, so when I walked up to the entrance, the security guard asked me for ID. I showed him the ID and he looked puzzled. He asked me to sign my name for him, so I began to do so, but in the middle of signing it, I had forgotten how to spell my friend's name, which was a long Greek last name - Paisopoulous - or something like that). So at that point I basically surrendered my attempt and said "sir, I'm sorry, I don't even know how to spell the guy's last name, let alone sign it", then laughed. He laughed, then said "get the f**k out of here kid", and kept the ID. :D

"Apparently" I don't look like it, but if you saw my id... I really look the same.
3 people "trained" to study licenses agreed I did not look like it at all. But after all my friends and everyone else looking at it, they all agreed I def. do. Just a little younger, even the security guard said my ears and nose were the same. The height which, my only real defense against is my late blooming... which does happen in 3 years. And my signature. well I used to sign like they taught in grade school, one letter at a time, I now have a more fluid like signature but I had forgotten how it was on the license... letterlike or fluid.

When I had my license photo taken here in Georgia, I wore a v-neck shirt and, of course, you can see my prancing horse tattoo in the license picture... I never have a problem with my ID (even though I had blonde highlights in my hair at the time - don't ask! and have shed a few pounds since)... Often times, people will say, "do you really have a horse on your chest?" and I show them and it's instant, undeniable verification...

Your solution...? Get a prancing horse tattoo on your chest...! :D

    Next time:

Ask to speak to the casino host. Introduce yourself and explain the disappointment you had in the past. State you are not placing blame but want to make sure you are not embarrassed in front of associates again. Then tell him you would like your play rated. See how he treats you.....

That should stop any problem - As long as you're of age.

Depends on how much you want to play. If you say you want to be rated and then go sit at a $5 blackjack table and buy in for $100, he'll think you're a joker.

Maybe a new ID would be a good idea?? What would that cost? $10-25, and you'd be in the clear next time you want to go gaming.

Besides, you do have a baby face, and thank God you grew!! 4'11" is no way to go through life. :D

Brandon. How is life in the post graduate world treating you? You did graduate, right? All done school, now you're working in the real world?

Next time you head to the casino, be sure to post in the PA-NJ forum and invite us too, ya @#$$~@!!

Haha. We should start a poll about it, and if it gets serious, Fchat should pay for all of us to get them. Hey, that could be where all the subscription money could go. I'll get a Rossa subscription for that! I kid, I kid.

My 14 year old son wanted a tattoo back in the day, I said fine, but I got to pick what it said.

I offered, "This tattoo cost me a million bucks."

He wondered what the hell I meant.

I told him, "I'll write you out of the will if I catch you with a tattoo before you turn 21."

Just wanted to make sure he thought about it before he jumped off the cliff.

School id, but that doesn't prove my age.

Dave, I have one more semester left in school. I'm actually graduating early, 3.5 years... not 4.

What does getting rated mean? Sorry I have never been to a casino.

Means that you want them to track your play so you can qualify for comps (free food, room, shows, etc). The higher your average bet, the more you get comped. But unless you're betting at least $25 per hand, most casinos won't even bother to rate you.

Just get a club card through the Player's Club Booth or a Casino Host - play is tracked through all manner of Slot machines and Pit through the same card.

An "appeasement" Comp does not have to be written by a Casino Host. It can be written by any number of Pit floorpeople or Slot Managers. "Appeasement" comp points/dollars are not taken off the Player's Club Account.

You do not have to be a huge player. Show 'em your card before you get started. Those points/dollars add up and can be used at your discretion.

Great advice. If you are semi-decent at limit poker, play $3/$6 limit hold-em (cheapest live game most casinos offer). For every hour of play you get money back. Some casinos have deals if you have 3 hours of play stashed on your card, you can get into a low buy-in NL H/E game ($20 + $20 re-buys and $20 add-on) and you'd start with 3,000 extra chips on top of a start of 750 chips.

If your casino does this (Fort McDowell Casino in Phoenix, AZ does) you'll have a better advantage. I've played several times with just the starting 750 and I was going all-in more often than not. Starting with 3,000 I could sit back more and not risk getting knocked out or having to re-buy.
