    Hey all,

So I'm bolting up the motor mounts . . . practically last thing before I drop the motor in . . . and find one of them has a crack in it . . . it doesn't feel like it's got much play when I put in a vise.

It's the front driver side mt . . . 2 of the front passenger side studs had completely backed out which put a bunch of extra load on this mount which is probably why it cracked . . . it's the last thing I need before putting the engine in and they don't seem real easy to get to later once the engine's in.

Replace or run her? I'll wait a couple of days for the mount if that's really the smart move . . . just didn't want another delay.

    Thanks for the input!!!!

I'd replace it. You could find a used one at the usual sources.

Agree. Am from the school of 'replce... though if one goes and you are not sure the age/miles on them the others might not be far behind so i'd do them all. The engine is out so doing it now is easier than doing it later.

Motor mounts are put under huge stresses, and prevent unwanted engine motion that causes expensive damage. Think exhaust, transmission. Consider the cost of a new mount compared to all the money you've spent to remove and replace the engine.

I'm especially sensitive on this issue because over the years I have seen lots of cars that did serious damage to themselves thanks to broken engine mounts. If it were my car I'd change them all, with NEW mounts.
