Is there anyway to tell if I have a defective Hyperflow cat?
I pulled my exhaust off the other day and noticed quite a bit of carbon (or soot - whatever) that would be going into the exhaust. Also noticed it on the inside tips of the exhaust as well.... Driver side is perfectly clean

MAFs are dialed in spot on at 383, new plugs & plug wires also.

    Any thoughts are appreciated!

I would guess the problem would be a fouled spark plug, failing spark plug wire, or failing O2 sensor on the side with the soot.

Sounds normal to me. If you want to find out if they're "defective" or been ruined, go get an emission test. Catalysts aren't particulate traps, they operate on gases.
