All 430s will be fitted with LATCH (lower anchors and tethers for children) and a passenger airbag off switch. Racing seats are not compatible with LATCH, so cars being produced after Sept. 1st/2006 will not be available with racing seats.

I wonder what kind of seats the F430 CS will have?

I don't doubt that this is highly probable. Maybe they'll get an exemption for the exemption on the 430CS. :) Either that or they'll just say F-this and not have a US version. The only saviour is the fact that they already allowed a CS with these types of seats and they may try to slide it through on that basis. Don't hold your breath though.

My FORD GT has the airbag switch and the lower latch for child seats. It still has the racing seat like in the F430.

My 2005 430 with daytonas already has a turn off switch and baby seat anchors. I don't understand what the deal would be.

I wonder if they will substitute the new seats in the 599. Perhaps that is the alternative that will be offered.

You can get a seat similar to the existing racing seat with power controls and a daytona-like insert. They also look like they can accomodate LATCH.

The claim is that the racing seats don't comply, so Daytona seats wouldn't be a problem. However, I have racing seats and there are child-seat fittings for the passenger side. Are LATCH fittings different? Installing a switch to turn off the airbag shouldn't be impacted by the racing seats.

This may be slightly off topic, but PLEASE someone tell me that this CS will be offered with a manual transmission?

I think I know who this is posting it and if I am correct then I would not doubt the veracity of his statement. Could you order a car with a drivers side racing seat and a passenger side Daytona seat? Might look a little silly but......

    best regards,
    Jerry

Slight hijack but I'll play along:

If the Challenge Stradale wasn't offered with a manual, why do you think the next gen will?

Or, how about the ability to order a racing seat at a special price for install after delivery? Possibly a swap? Jeez, way too complicated.

If I were F this could be an easy out on a variation of a car that is totally sold out anyway. IOW, sorry no CS because of strict regulations.

What would be the point in that, anyway?
It's a Racing car, for god sake, why would Ferrari think about child seats? Doesn't make sense to me...!
