Eventually the Market returns all cars to their rightful owners...but that takes time.

Until then, not all 348's have made it back to hobbyists and collectors quite yet.

The non-hobbyist/collector doesn't give a hoot about FCA shows. Over time, even as fewer 348's survive (accidents, fires, etc.), more will actually be showing up to events simply because there will be more 348's owned by collectors and hobbyists (which includes racers and wrenchers, too).

Excluding dealerships, meets & shows, I've only seen two 348's on the road in London in the past year. Even the 355 is getting rarer to spot.

    I see 360/430/550's everywhere.

Guess that's why my 348 get's so much attention. :D

In my opinion, if the 348 is the car you like, you should get it regadless of current values or long term value. Almost all cars no matter the manufacturer are depreciating assets including some to most F cars. Other than the very rare ones, they all go down.

At this point, I would be confident buying a 348 as I think the market for them cannot go much lower. I think the end of the price curve is here for a good quality 348 (between 45-53k) depending on milage, service ect.

Live life, and drive the car you like.

I'm in the market. I've been loking for the last few weeks. Almost made a deal on a project car in Florida. $1k apart. I'm sure something will come up. These cars are a great value. If you hear of something, please let me know.

I think that the 348 as well as other f-cars should not be considered an investment. Just live life and drive and enjoy for what it is.Take good care of it and it'll take good care of you.

As far as looks. The 348 makes a great head turner. Mainly it has a great front but the 355 has a better rear with similar round tail lights as the good ol dino/ 308/328 period.

The 348 cannot be compared to an NSX because you have to look at the heritage. Ferrari are more sophisticated and gorgeous beasts just ask any Import Show off promoter to enter your 348 and they would be dying for you to get you in and even provide you with one of those hot asian porno model stars to sit on your car and pose on it. Whereas the NSX are quite common and grossly ridiculously outmoded.

You guys should realize that the great value of your 348 and I hope I have helped you realize it.

    Hello all,

I am brand new to the chat, I have read a lot lately, because I finally found a 348TS I could afford. The price I paid makes it a no-risk operation (around 35K), and they just need to put in another ignition module on one bank of cylinders in the speed shop, paid by the previous owner.

It is a black one, which i like better then red, and as much as I like the F355, I still believe the 348 has the better looks.

Will have to wait a few days before I can drive it as I need license plates and stuff (not as easy in europe as in the states...).

Hope I will be able to bring some valuable input around here, this time next week I will have a few days of driving experience probably, will let you all know how it felt and maybe post a pic? (Don't have one yet :))

Black 348's, (as well as any color) are, if well cared for, one of the best looking cars on the road today. They drive fast & excellent also, just not as fast as total speed freeks can tolerate. I love my black 348, and I'm sure you will love yours. Welcome to the brotherhood Best Regards indy

I dont get it , the 348 is a respected car among its peers . I drove it from Pittsburgh to Hamptons(LI)1000k roundtrip & it was a joy, (so will the visit to the chiropractor on Monday ) On saturday on I ran into a new MAzerati Convertible , CarreraS & 430 (yellow). For 50miles on the L.I.E. we maintained 120-130 .It looked like the cover of a Road & Track Issue . Definitly a great drive .Nothing but raves as we all stopped for gas at the texaco on rte24.The 348 is a steal no question .In case you havent seen alot of Ferraris around you area , its because they are all in the hamptons, I lost count . New , old , they are all there .

it was to meet u.s. passive restraint requirements. all ferrari's had them from 1990 to 1994. (testarossa 87' through 95' and 348 90' through 95') since the united states market in the early 90's was approximately 1,000 cars per year, ferrari couldn't justify the cost of re-engineering their model lines for air bags.

they are awkward and unatractive when not in use, but i kinda like the no airbag look of the steering wheel. by the way, lamborghini, bentley and aston-martin had the same motorized belt situation. so it wasn't just ferrari that did this to meet u.s. standards.

    kind regards,

    joseph

Too bad that Ferrari ultimately caved in to air bags. Their use of seat belts was more effective and still is.

There are no air bags in race cars!

This is why I had www.airbagonoff.com disable the air bags in my 360, and two other of my cars will be done as well.

I think more people are injured by them then saved.

Of course not everyone agrees, but I could care less.

I was saved by an airbag, 70 mph head-on collision in a jeep grand cherokee, (hit by a pick-up that crossed center line)

I'm a big fan of air bags ;)

same here. I crashed my new 94 camaro in high school (in 94) and thank god it had an airbag...now why I had a new camaro in high school is different question : )

I gave a speech in college (1983 I think) about the effectiveness of airbags.

At that time it had come out that GM as an experiment actually placed airbags in some cars in the 70's. They tracked the accident/fatality rate of those vehicles basically trying to disprove the upcoming goverment mandate and it was shown that even after those cars changed hands (became used cars more or less) years later, the air bags saved lives.

In essence, the evidence to their effectiveness was so overwhelming that the worlds largest car manufacturer (at that time) had trouble arguing the point against them.....

I would agree that there are a lot of 348 fans out there. It's a classic design with the louvre doors, and it's had plenty of attention in quite a few movies. I've loved my '94 348 Series Speciale for the 1 year I've had it, but I just didn't have the time to use it.

What's shocked me is that I've had a tough time selling it. Not only is it the last year they made it, plus being a rare S.S., and decently low miles, but at the $64K asking price, with room for negotiation, I thought it would move quicker?

Anyone care to comment on why this beauty isn't moving?:

Not really too cheap. Kind of higher mileage, and needing the major service, and the chrome wheels all combine to make the price make sense. Still a pretty good deal if that is what you are looking for. Notbostrom should look into this car and have plenty of money available in the budget for anything the car might need.

I had a 355 checked out there recently and it was junk. It needed approximately $20.000 in work and probably more, to there astonishment after the PM was completed. I would be very careful purchasing a car from this dealer.
