    I watched this new cut over the weekend. Truly a great movie. I thought that the theatrical cut was choppy and lacking, though I couldn't quite place my finger on what it was that I didn't like. The new cut adds over an hour of footage which includes entire characters, subplots and greater action sequences. If you like historical epics, I would highly recommend picking this up. To me it transformed a 'B-/C' film into a solid 'A'.

    Hmmm interesting. I'll have to go back and see which version I rented. I thought it was okay (ie. good); saw it about a month ago. Thanks for the advice.

    Thanks for posting this info...I just ordered a copy from amazon. A great movie in theatrical release but yes, lacking in some areas.

    Historical epics are my favorite movie genre....I've got a good collection.
