    Hi all,

I've spotted this on the Auto Trader recently, and now on Piston heads. Its a 348, which has a full kit to look like a 355.

Personally, I think it looks amazing. Is this fact that its now effectively a replica mean its going to be hard to shift on or insure? Its been for sale for a while, but most Ferrari's usually are.

Just wondered what people thought of it...?

As long as your insurance company is happy with the new bumpers, door air intakes, rear lights & wheels.....which are really just minor mods there shouldn't be a problem

I had this argument a while back on here, Now I like this, at least its a GENUINE Ferrari built with GENUINE parts, not some 4 cylinder japanese ricer with a 1/2 ton Tupperware bodykit, personally I wouldn't buy it as I would rather get a Lhd 355

Strange conversion as i am sure the money spent would have been the same as trading in the 348 against a 355. Was the car in an accident and that's why the conversion has been done?

I agree the LHD 355 would be a better option.

I think the trap so many fall into is they buy what they can afford then slowly replace this bit here and that bit there £100 here £300 there and so on, until you realise that you are upto the price of the better model

Cost for doing this based on bit's we've bought this year for customers 355's is roughly

    Front bumper £320 + delivery
    Front lights £110 + delivery
    Rear bumper £250 + delivery
    Side strakes £200 + delivery
Rear challenge grill + lights £210 + delivery

Paint is around £150 per bumper + £80 per side strake or £460

Total cost excluding labour £1550 + around £300 in dhl charges + labour......so around £2500.......which is of course the same sort of cost for turning the car back to a 348.........so in reality the value of this car is dimished by around £2k compared to other similar 348's (so its worth £24-25k)

well, if you did want to turn it back into a 348, i'm sure you could easilly sell on those 355 parts to make some of your money back.

IMHO looking at the advert alone it looks fantastic to me. I was looking (out of interest) the price of 348's on autotrader last night. There was one for £20k LHD. The one on PH has only 23k on it RHD and only £26k. It sounds very good VFM. I would be more concerned that it is has not been in an accident at some point hence the 355 bits. If it is accident free then I do not see why not?

I fancy a 348 next. I love the 355 but probably can't afford one at todays prices, in a few years time maybe. I would like a 348 and although I do not mind the rear on them I much prefer the 355 rear - twin round lights have always been typical of a Ferrari (at least mondials got them ;)).

I will consider a 355 rear on a 348 just because it looks better. Not bothered about cheese grater sides as I have them on my Mondy, but do love the 355 rear.

No its the not the same one, click on both links, the one at the top of the page in the 6th pic has a partially black engine cover/lid, the fleabay one has a 355 cover with the bulge in the middle

That wouldn't be a bad idea if your 348 has got some minor damage or your doing a twin turbo up grade and building a "Supersleeper" out a 348 but don't want people to know its a 348 but want them to believe its just a 355.
