    I call my cars by names:

    Gray Trans Am - Storm (because its the color of a dark thunderstorm)

    Black Ford Expedition - Thunder (because it complements Storm)

    Blue BMW 3 series - Buzz Lightyear (because it has a buzzy little four cylinder engine)

    Green Ford Escort - Gumby (because of the green)

    My wife sort of named the car by accident. When we trailered the car long distances with the truck and van I wouldn't let her drive when the car was on board. So she told someone she wasn't allowed to drive when "Precious" was on board. So "Precious" stuck! Her girl friends get a kick out of this.

    Other names around here that have stuck are:
    Her 2000 Deville: The Caddy
    Ford 4X4 work truck: Old Blue
    Dodge 4X4: The Diesel
    GMC trailer towing truck: The Jimmy
    And more that get name changes as they develop aging problems.
