    Very nice!
Anyone who claims the 599 is derivative of the new Corvette or anything else, is dreaming. The rear 1/4 view is simply all Ferrari, with those curves being reflections of great past Ferraris like the 250 SWB and the 275GTB/4.

Ferrari lines have been copied by so many other auto makers in their mass produced models that some people begin to think that Corvettes and Supras and Camaros are original designs, probably because they hardly ever see a Ferrari on the road. The truth is they (mass volume car makers) all borrow heavily from Ferrari and PF.

In addition the younger generation has not enough knowledge (design-wise) of the Ferraris of the 1950s and early 1960s, they grew up with Testarossas and F40s instead of 166 Mille Miglia Barchettas, 375 Mille Miglia Berlinettas, 410 Superamericas, 250 GT California Spiders and 275 GTBs.

Id pay $200k over sticker as I think the 599 is the best 'mass production' Ferrari since the TR...

Of course I need someone to give me the $200k...

Im VERY critical of Ferrari at times, especially the 360-430 styling but the 599 is sex on wheels and is not derivative of a corvette or anything else. Its flawless.

I agree about the car in dark colors - is the darker car grigio silverstone?

I don't know the length of the production run for this car but I agree it is sold out for years. I think it will be a big hit and not suffer too badly with price drops. I expect it to be like a 430 except that there are a lot fewer and the high prices could hang on for a longer time.

Beautiful colour that Silverstone. I love that shade on Ferrari's whole lineup of cars right now. Darker colours suit them for sure. Black IS cool but it can hide alot of the design of the car.. certain details and lines can be hard to distinguish with Black... Silverstone is dark enough to be cool, but not too dark. And its facinating how the colour changes in different lighting. Indoors it looks alot darker, in these exterior shots it really brings out the lighter blue tone...

Cant wait to see a 599 in the flesh... er... metal.

Fabulous shots Marcel... thx for posting 'em

That 599 is perfect. When I saw your first post I thought, "wow that would be great with Cuio interior." In the closer pics it appears it is. Did you get any pics of the interior?

I adore the 599. If its true that the U.S is only getting 200 cars, we may see some extreme prices on the flip. Who knows, $150k over MSRP may look like a steal in 6 months. :D

No, both 147116 and 147117 have black interiors. Not cuoio.
No, I didn't take any interior shots because it was raining all the time and we didn't open the doors.
Here are some pix of the silver one (147116).

Argento with Bordeaux and argento calipers...

Or the traditional red over black with red calipers..

I liked the Yellow over black with yellow calipers and the std wheels on cover of Sport Auto.

Darker colors do suit this car well, the Rosso Corsa doesn't work quite as nicely, nor do I think it does on the F430.

"Argento with Bordeaux and argento calipers"

That would be beautiful. We think alike ... almost. Grigio silverstone with black & red to sketch - the "interior to sketch" alternative allows much individualization in details like armrests, sunshades, etc. Black calipers, no shields, 20" challenge style wheels, CCB, LED steering wheel, all leather, etc.

I prefer the 20" challenge style wheels with CCB - I wonder whether most cars will have that combination.

I cannot imagine why anyone would want to pay 100,000 over list for a car that is bound to depreciate in time. I had a choice to pay that for a F 430 or an F40...it was a no brainer for me. The point is there are many cars out there that are older but are quite desirable that one can buy for those sure to depreciate prices on the new ones.

Money no object people. I know if i had a few hundred millions $ but wasnt on the list for the first 599 , i wouldnt mind paying the premium. It will cost them $400k , thats peanuts for them .
Plus, they propbably already own the oldtimers they want.

That is, in a nutshell, the basis for Ferrari's entire bottom line.
Whatever the economy, the world will ALWAYS have x-number of people with bank accounts that large, who are MORE THAN willing to pay such crazy prices for the luxury of having a new car NOW. Probably some are powerball winners or employees of Google :) Then there is the next (larger) tier of clients who would rather wait or get an older model at more of a "deal" or at least closer to MSRP. ie "buy a 360 when the F430 comes out" scenario...

    just my take on it...

Marcel, thank you for sharing your pictures of the new 599. Nice 'local' location there to. The Girgio Silverstone is wonderful. It makes the silver look rather weak. With your experience and knowledge of Ferrari models from the earliest to the latest products; what color combination would you want for your 599? Did your friend indicate a color preference for his 599 when it is built? You both would not show up with the same color would you?

147117: Up until chassis number 75000 Ferrari used odd numbers only for the road cars (001 in 1947 to 74999, 001, 003, 005, 007, etc.). From 75000 on they started to use every number for their serial numbers. Makes a total production of approx. 115'000 cars built so far.
Comp cars got (usually) even numbers (0002 to 0900 and 1000 to 1050). Make a search on fchat to find out more about the use of serial numbers.
