I just got this email ad from Michael Sheehan.... I can not believe that a Clown Lips 365/GTC/4 is listed for $98,500! http://www.ferraris-online.com/pages/carintro.php?reqcardir=FE-365GTC4-15625 That must mean a Boxer (any model) is worth at LEAST $150,000+++ in my book.
wow! price seems to have gone up on anything w/ a v-12...if only the 180 degree v's are next. i had almost bought a c4 from sheehan a few years ago and i remember it was actually in as new condition and had no stories...a new car for 65k! this car sounds like it is far from perfect and infact, based on how mike is known to over state a cars cosmetic condition, I suspect this car needs paint to make it really, really nice. nearly 100k? i think i missed the boat on these cars when they were a bargain.
I think daytona fans are turning to them because they are affordable and look similar. They even cost more than a daytona when new. They also seem to fetch around $100K up here.
they are relatively rare as well. they always looked very bulky and ungainly to me, not a sports car definately. I would do a rebody if I owned one
The 365 GTC4 has one of the best sounding engines of all time. I have the Ferrari exhaust notes CD and the C4 sound is the best of all of the road cars on the disc.
I agree, I've heard a couple of them and they sound great. It must have a lot to do with those side draft Webers. They still look pretty goofy to me though.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think you guys are being waaaay too hard on the C4. Actually, look at some of the recent polls (Forza, for instance) and you'll see that lots of knowledgeable people actually prefer driving the C4 to the Daytona. People like Coco Chinetti, for instance. That said, it's interesting that price-wise, C4s may have passed BBs. 3 years ago, I was looking at a C4 and the car I was most interested in was asking $44k.
The only thing similar is the rear quarter windows. No comparison otherwise. Remember, the C/4 came BEFORE the Monza.
Michael (msdesignltd) proves me right by selling his Boxer that was listed in AutoWeek for $150K! http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=117489
http://www.historicmotoring.com/occassions/fotos_occ/72ferrari365gtc4/index.html I think this is closer to there actual worth! Argetno
I like the C4. The two I saw up close did not look that nice. One was a driver, and the other car looked fairly decent. I imagine the problem with these cars, is that they are difficult (expensive) to work on, and problems are put off or forgotten about over time. With maintainance and work put-off on quite a few cars, it ends up being a real quest to find a very nice original car (add to the fact that this car has very low production #'s for a relatively modern F car). These same type of problems generally inflict inexpensive cars such as the Lamborghini Espada / Jarama, and the F 12cyl 2 + 2s. These type of cars are out their, but good look finding an excellent car with a book of files. Oh I remember a nice 1960 250GT PF coupe forsale, for 75K just a few years ago. DARN ! The boat has departed the port.
