Hey what do you think of selling Six Flags Magic Mountain for real estate?

I think some developer would be salivating at the opportunity to cram $900K+ homes into lots measured in square yards, not acre.

Lets see $900k per acre at 250 acres. You do the math.

Maybe Michael Jackon will buy them and keep them running. Only pre-teen boys allowed.

It would be a hassle to remove the coasters I'd think. Not sure if the metal coasters can be removed and sold off to other parks.

I heard they are leaving the park where it is. They bought the large parcel of land to build on, but don't need to close down the park for it.

It is going to be (supposedly) the next Valencia. it is going to exten to the 126 and south ((I think))

Then I heard the park sold 2 of their best rides.....hmmmm

If you are keeping the park, why sell the rides???

    I will know more shortly

I will have to find out for sure with someone at Newhall Land.
But I think it was purchased by Newhall Land and farm who is partnered with Lennar Properties from FL.

The 5 fwy CANNOT handle another city up in that valley PERIOD!

They need another artery in and out of the city before more housing is built.

If there is a catastrophic event, it will very difficult to evacuate.
    nearly impossible

I'm familiar with them. My friend's house was built by them. Nice place, but it's a rather large house (I think 4k sq ft) on a small lot. Very cookie-cutter since the rest of the homes look nearly identical.

Yeah, on one hand we need another major freeway, and on the other hand we are talking multi-multi-millions in tax revenue, let alone all the money floating under the table to politicians and commissioners........ take a guess at which one wins ??

And, you are aware of the fault lines, you make your choice as to where to live.

I personally think the whole reason why Valencia has grown was because of Six Flags Magic Mountain. It's completely stupid to even think of taking the cash cow from the city. People move to Valencia for jobs. Do you think people would still want to move or have a reason to visit Valencia when Six Flags Magic Mountain dissapears? Look at Disneyland I'm sure they were losing alot of money back when it first opened but they held on to their balls and kept strong. Now orange county basically grew around Disneyland and has alot to thank for it.

The reason people moved to Valencia was not six flags. acually, almost everyone I know that is in Valencia has never been to six flags.
to be honest, six flags is a dump.
People starting moving there because it is located 30 miles from LA and you could get a 3000 sqft home, brand new for $450k in 2000. /now they are 800k on avg.

Six Flags has been a joke here and nick named six stabs after a stabbing a number of years ago. No one from SCV goes there on the weekends or at nights. Lots of gangs from the SFV and LA come up. Maintenance has been a joke and I don't think anyone there has seen a paint brush in years there. I for one am glad to see it go.
