NEVER, NEVER soak your a/c vents in lacquer thinner like I did tonight. My poor right vent basically melted into a glob of black goo. Plan B ... Daniel???
Thanks to the FDA, "Plan B" is now available over the counter at your local drug dealer (aka Ferrari Parts Provider): http://www.ricambiamerica.com/product_info.php?products_id=232760
next time use butyl ether , watered to 1/2 strenghth and work ur way up. a light solvent may take the tackiness off w/o destroying. phil
Easy Off. Get a trash bag, put a disposable aluminum pan in it and spray the easy off on the part. Close the bag up and let it sit for 20 minutes and repeat. Thereafter use gloved hands and a fingernail scrub brush to remove every molecule of that sticky paint. What remains will be a nice textured plastic surface that you will not have to sand or repaint. That said, if you seek the original finish five Ricambi America a call. The original finish is very nice. ken
Going to do this next week with easy off. Can someone attach a link or note on how to pull the dash vents out? I think some of them have side clips to depress?
lol been over 2 months since I did mine & that black chit is still in bottom of my mop sink in garage after the ez off clear water rinse... I have handled some sticky stuff in my life but the only thing that makes a worse mess on your hands & whatever it touches than this black goo is that spray insulating foam you use for sealing holes in houses... WEAR LATEK GLOVES Do as I say dont do as I did....will make you mental trying to get it off your hands... Patience & do not freak out- plastic parts really will look better once they look really awful! (EZ-Off remedy)
