I was hoping that someone here is knowledgeable on the topic Vanquish.

It seems that there are endless varieties of dark silver available. Tungsten and stronsay silver seems to be the most prevalent. I saw a titanio grigio (ferrari colour) Vanquish on Ebay???? What are the other shades of silver and colours that the vanquish came in?

I've read that the Vanquish has a choppy F1 and subpar interior (lots of aluminum lookin plastic a la Ford) and that it depreciates like a rock. What are some other problems with the car? I'm especially interested in mechanical problems. Is maintenance expensive? More or less than modern ferraris?

I've also read that 06 is the last production year. T or F?
If T, shouldn't we have seen spy pics or even official pics of the new model?

Any other relevant info would be much appreciated.

    TIA Peter

PS It truly is a beautiful car!

The only issue I have heard about it, was the clutch/transmission when top gear tried to take it out for a lap around their track the tranny went out. Had to get another car to do the lap. I believe (probably wrong) that the DBS was taking over the Vanquish ranks. I love them too seeing them in the flesh blows any photo of the car. I have seen a lot in london, and by far black is the best color. The color and the stance on the car on the street looks amazing. Also saw a white one whiched looked great as well. If i was going to get one, I would either get a black, British racing green, or gunmetal.

How could one argue that the AM Vanquish and DB9 aren't the most beautiful cars ever. If the price keeps dropping like it has on used one's I'll have a DB9 in a few years.

here's some of the colors I have seen on the Vanquish. some of them may be repeats, I'm not sure if they just look different because of lighting or if they are actually different colors. The last photo shows 3 different grayish shades. There are definitely lots of colors available.

Are Vanquish prices really dropping that much?
Over here I see the cheapest Vanquishes for not much less than a new DB9.
They still look pretty stable if you ask me.

    Just a side comment but...

I really don't like yellow (or any bright colors) on the car. It doesn't strike me as an outragous car like a Lamborghini, but a sleek and gorgeous one where the brighter colors just don't seem to fit.

Stunning car but AM can't seem to make a tranny. I've seen one in person, candy apple green in Newport RI, parked on the driveway of a beautiful home.

How long is the warranty? If the tranny is covered, then don't worry.

    1. 06 will be the last production year.

    2. The F1 is better in the Vanquish than in my Ferrari, hands down, not even close

    3. Overall fit/finish is far better than my Ferrari. The interior in my Ferrari are similar (Fiat-ish). The Vanquish has an absolutely outstanding (1300 Watt) stereo. The Ferrari stereo is a total POS, it's basically an AM unit. The Ferrari has creaks/groans/noises, the Vanquish is solid as a rock, wonderful feel (although some of this is due to spider vs coupe)

    4. Vanquish has 10,000 miles so far $0 paid for maintnenance, including towing to/from dealership. 7500 miles between service

    5. Ferrari has been to dealer three times for warranty work, yearly maintenence (1000 miles) is also NOT free. Try to get those c@cksuckers to give you a loaner let alone pick it up.....

    6. I'm giving my Ferrari to my wife when I get my LP640 the 360 spider is a girls car anyway

    7. Overall, the "Ferrari ownership experience" is all hype, and has been a major disappointment to me. But like I said, I'm Italian so I'm keeping the Ferrari and giving it to my wife

    8. The silvers are nice, but it looks awesome in metallic burgundy/black.

    9. Only 50 come to the states every year, they'll be less than 150 "S" in the US total.

    10. It's nice to have owned a Ferrari, but I'll ALWAYS have an Aston Martin in my garage. Hands down a better car.....

PS the SL 55 is a better value than a 360 spider, same speed, more amenities, better reliablility and $100K less.

Apparently the Vanquish will be replaced by the new DBS. This was confirmed by one of the dealers

Nope. The DBS is an "interim" model. It IS a DB9 "Sport" and will be a limited production run. The "Vanquish replacement" is slated for 2010. I'm hoping it will remain a monococque and not the VH platform.

The last I heard, the Rapide will be produced in a limited run of 300 or so. If that's the case expect 100 or so in the US. I'm about to put down a deposit on one.

The Vanquish is also an absolutely stunning car in person. All who've seen both the spider and the Vanq prefer the Aston..... even though they don't know what it is.

Assuming you were AM shopping (not looking at any other cars in price bracket) and knew you weren't getting a manual, why would you get a DB9 over a Vanquish??

Maybe its just me, but an '03 Vanquish with 10-20K miles on it costs about the same, if not less than a new DB9.

I understand that the new Vanquish S has 520hp - they had to do something to make it their flagship model.

    But, for first Vanquish, both have a 6.0L V12 - Vanquish has 460hp, DB9 450hp

Vanquish is a 2+2 (honestly who is using those back seats, both are 2 seaters in my mind)

    DB9 I guess would have a warranty, Vanquish doesn't.

Vanquish wins bigtime in exclusivity (what, 70 imported per year?!). Yes, most on the road don't even know what each car is, but for those 16 year olds with a stack of Car and Driver and Road and Track's on their nightstand who have memorized every 0-60 time and stickerprice do...

I guess 3 years is a bit of wear on a car, but I think I would be really tempted to get a slightly used Vanquish.

Ok I'm rambling, but does anyone else think about this? I'd love to own a car which had a name titled "Vanquish"

Assuming they (the Vanquish) are "reliable" (for a car of its nature) these new DB9 owners, IMHO should be picking up the beast that started the fresh lines from AM instead.

Despite all the above, the DB9 won't break down 5 miles after you start it up.

As mentioned, '06 is the last Vanquish. If you can find a dealer w/an open order, the factory will install a manual tranny. Not a regular option and so not inexpensive - an engineering deal, I think. But bet a 520hp S w/a proper stick shift would be fun one.

The 03 I'm looking at doesnt have xenon lights???? do any of the Vanquishes have it? Does the Vanquish S have xenons?
If 06 is the last year and the DBS replaces it (although this is a light weight DB9), will there then be no new vanquish till 08 or 10?

Not scientific or official by any means, but in "the Italian Job", the AM Racing Green car that Edward Norton drives shows xenons when he pulls out of the driveway at night (movie was on TV last night)...

No xenons, but they can be added on aftermarket.

No Vanquishes till '10. The DBS is till just a DBS- an option, not the replacement.

If you want a manual, get a DB9. That would be the only reason to get one. Works can add a stick for around $30K. That'll take sticker up to around $290K.

DB9s and Vanqs are 2+0 in essence. I opted to not add back seats in mine.

The Vanquish when new is STILL worth the $100K+ over a new DB9. Just the exhaust note alone is worth the $100K.

Photo hues are difficult, but to me it looks like Silver Birch (the original bond color), Tungsten Silver, Stronsay Silver from left to right, though the two flanking models may both be the same (either color), like I said, shadows and hues.

Sounds like I am going to want to definitly pick up a nice "used" 06 Vanq S as they come down in price a bit hopefully within the next few years or so. Love that car! And they are stunning in person.

Get a Vantage. It looks better than the vanquish, way better interior and options, it's right there with the vanquish in acceleration and it handles better. Plus it's like 100k cheaper if you're buying both new.
