Property taxes do not have a cap to my knowledge in the state of SC. Sales tax does...if you purchase a car, the maximum sales tax you would pay is $300. I dont know about north carolina.

Sorry but no cap in SC--- I pay around $$ 1800.00 per year for my 1999 360 just for a comparison. The taxes are based on the vehicle value and the county/school district you are in. Good Luck

I pay just a bit over $19 a year in property taxes for my 328. Yep, 19 bucks.

Since it's an '86, it falls under the "high-mileage" calculation. It pays to go vintage. Excuse me, "classic".

Can you imagine having a 62 GTO and paying $17.00? That's how it would work.

This whole 'personal property tax' thing down here is ridiculous. up in NJ, there is no such thing as a tax on personal property every year

In NC, "Highway Use Tax" (what you pay when you register your car) is 3% with no cap. Then, you get a 'personal property tax' bill every year. My 95 993 Cab used to run me $500ish per year..

SC is capped at $300 when you register, but still have the personal property tax thing..

I pay $17/year on my 308...mileage does not matter on a car of this age. My 1994 Toyota Camry has 65k miles, so I pay around $55...since the car is newer, I would pay less if it had higher mileage....I think 17 years old or older, you only pay $17.

    I paid $13.63 for 1972 246GT last August and $13.12 in 2004. I haven't received for this year yet.

You guys are killing me. So you NC'ers pay a 3% use tax?

I paid enough on my CA car to pay for another 30K major service... :(
