Well I have finally found a sports exhaust I'm happy with. After trying a Tubi and a Capristo I have finally decided on the Novitec Supersport. I will try and post a sound file soon and I will post some pics as well.

The thing I like about the Novitec is that you get no low rpm boom at all but you get a fantastic sound above 3-4k rpm. The Tubi I tried was quite boomy at low revs and in my opinion it's noise wasn't very sophisticated,it just gets louder.

The Capristo level 1 scared me!!!!!! The noise it made below 3k rpm was deafening. If you was stuck in traffic with cars either side of you the sonic boom hurts your head. After the first day of driving my ears was ringing and when I was in bed at night and I had a bad headache. The noise above 4k rpm is fantastic, very high pitched and it sounds amazing but waaaay to loud. The Capristo is the first exhaust I have purchased that has made me feel sick physically. It really does get into your head in a bad way. My other concern was the amount of heat it generates, even with a challenge grill the engine bay and rear wings get very very hot.

The Novitec is quite civilised compared. As I said earlier you get no boom or horrible rumble at low revs.It is quite loud on tickover but the noise stays behind the car. When the revs get to 3k rpm the exhaust begins to howl and the noise gets higher in pitch. When you really go for it it sounds fantastic. The good thing about it is the noise is always behind the car and dosn't intrude into the cabin. With the windows up it is very quiet inside but sounds great outside.

I had a Porsche Boxster follow me for about 4 miles going to Melton Mowberry, he had his roof down. When he pulled alongside he sounded his horn and said that my 360 sounded fantastic. I'm glad he said that because when I first got it I was thinking that maybe it was too quiet.

The exhaust has 90mm tips and you also get a 3 peice grill set to match the challenge grill which tidies the back end of the car up.

Overall I'm very pleased, some may find it to quiet for there taste but I use my car for weekends away with the wife and do a lot of town driving so the no boom bonus won me over.

I will try and post pics.

You really mean the Cap level 1 was too loud?? I have heard other ppl describe it as sounding like stock. Hmm. It is nice to hear of an exhaust that doesn't drone in the car though.

    BTW: the grilles look wicked!!

Are you sure you're not talking about the Capristo level 3? The 1 is very quiet.

Yeah I'm confused as well. I keep hearing that the level 1 is quieter than stock, and the level 3 is insanely loud. Additionally, I thought that the Novitec was a rebadged Capristo?

I thought that when they fitted it but they assured me it was a level 1. They did say that it might of had a fault but at that stage I just wanted it off the car. I did post on here to ask if anyone had a level 1 but no one had any info or sound files.

The old Novitecs were Capristos. The new Supersport is made for the 600bhp Novitec 360 and is made by Fuchs. Apparantly it adds about 12 bhp to a standard 360 without removing the cats. You can feel the difference when driving,it pulls harder and feels more responsive and revs out quicker.

No way it was a stage 1, I've heard the Fuchs, stage 2, stage 3, Tubi, stock, and just about every exhaust for the 360 in person minus the MS Racing and I can tell you right now your Fuchs/Novitec is louder than the stage 1 Capristo. The exhaust you had was either defected or a stage 3 from the way you describe it.

I may go with the Novitec, sounds like the perfect upgrade for me. . . I'm really picky about exhausts, and have found over the years that overly aggressive exhausts can be quite tiring.

I agree Frayed, they can be tiring and in my case quite painfull to my ears and head! Hehe.

I loved the scream of the Capristo but the low revs bassy boomy rumble is just plain annoying, the same can be said about the Tubi to a lesser extent. My ears were getting tuned into the low bass frequency and starting to ache even before I started the engine after a few days.

I asked the dealer who fitted it if there was a possibility that they could have fitted a level 3 instead of a level 1 by mistake but they said that the exhaust has level 1 marked on the exhaust and there was no mistake. As I said earlier it could of been a faulty exhaust. It did seem to get louder as more miles was put on it. I covered around 500 miles before changing over to Novitec because it was driving me nuts.........I can still hear that low bass boom is my ears as I type. Hehe.

I did have the choice of trying another Capristo but I thought that if the first one had gone bad the chances of the second one developing a fault were quite high and I live 150 miles away from the dealer so I decded against it.

The heat issue with the Capristo was also a concern. When you come back from a drive the engine bay is unbeievably hot. We all like the sound of our exhausts contracting when they cool down but some of my engine parts where doing this!! The outside of the rear wings get to hot to touch and I was beggining to fear for the paintwork.

Sorry to sound to harsh about Capristo's but these are just my experiences and as I said I could have had a faulty one.

Given the description, I'd have to agree with MVP in that your Capristio was not a stage-1 (quite mellow) but was instead a stage-3 (NOT mellow)....while the stage-3 is quite pronounced, many neglect to factor-in the unique benefit in that after eating a heavy meal, while driving, the stage-3 can not only aid in helping your food settle, but even digest it! :)

So let me get this straight....what used to be Cargraphics/Fuch's is now Novitech/Fuch's???????

Rumor has it the Fuch's is the only exhaust that makes the 360 resonate & sound as similar to the 355?

So the bottom-end is quite tame: you can listen to music, talk on the phone, back into your driveway at night without waking neighbors, drive by cops without feeling like you are waving a gun???

AND YET AT THE SAME TIME....once the rpm's on up there, it gets fairly loud, sounds great and definitely puts-out more then stock?????

May I ask what a system like this might run????? ;) Inquiring frustrated exhaust enthusiast want to know.....

I don't think we will ever know for sure if it was a 1 or 3. All I know is the dealer who supplies Capristo's said it was a level 1. I never saw the markings on the exhaust so I can't be sure. His quote to me was " you need a level 3 like you need a hole in your head" so he ordered a level 1.

The noise above 4k rpm was very loud but bearable. The main issue was the low rev boom, the bass tone was sooo low it did really hurt!! It was ok in open spaces but in traffic or in an enclosed car park it was unbearable. The boom was setting off car alarms in multi storey carparks.

I think Fuch still make the Cargraphic exhaust but I,m not sure. The Novitec Supersport is difiinatly a Fuch because it is stamped on the muffler.

Go to www.novitecrosso.com and click on 360 to see the exhaust. They use it on the 606bhp bi-compressor 360.

Does Novitec sell the Challenge Grill looking exhaust tip surrounds seperately? How much are they?

    Thanks.

You are kidding here of course. You really think you can feel 12 HP? Pulls harder and more responsive in a 400 HP car?

    En sus sueneos!

When I had the 9PSI boost kit put on my supercharged NSX (20 RWHP gain) I could really feel the difference.
I too am very interested in the challenge grill looking surrounds for the exhaust. Anyone have any clues?

I,m sure they do sell them but I don't know how much they are. They are made for the 90mm exhausts tips so you will need a large diameter exhaust or you will have large gaps.

Please don't be offended. I have quite a bit of Mod experience and a 3% HP gain is virtually neglegible. Sp either you are very sensitive or there is more than 12 HP or, it's enough that you know it's there.

12 HP will lower 0-60 times by a tenth or so, less than the variability of your driving from day to day unless you are a very special driver. It won't make you any faster around a track, that's for sure.
