He just stated in Autosport that he will probably retire in the next five years.

Michael wrote his own destiny. What Michael has achieved is due to is own hard work and not Flavio's creation.

Too late the buzzer had already gone off! :)

Read the first chapter of "The Piranha Club". It tells the whole story that went down after MS' test with Jordan. It is a great piece of F1 history and a must read for any MS fan or anybody who is genuinely interested in F1 and its key players like Flavio, Ron and Bernie.

I agree with you, that "ethical" is not the first word that comes to mind when you read that story and Flavio's involvement. But it sure goes to show what a clever, cunning and hard working and negotiating guy he is.

MS did a lot for his own career, but he was lucky that the Webber->Jordan->Briatore chain worked the way it did. He got right onto the best starting platform for his career. No Minardi purgatory for a couple of years.

Guys I agree 100% about Mosley, but I am not sure about Bernie. He doesn't write the rules, and I am sure he is not too happy about some of the FIA's actions, but he can't control those things.

How could one possibly be an F1 fan and not like arrogance? The entire F1 motif is arrorgance! If you like humble, I suggest NASCAR...

Arrogance is one thing. Sophomoric, insipid vacuousness is quite another.

Yes, Flavio has been a part of F1... yes he has played a part!

My opinion is that we all would have been better off without his unethical manipulating donkey!

There are certain people that completely screwed up F1 by constantly complaining, manipulating and whining:
    1) Flavio Unethical Briatore
    2) Eddie Whining Jordan
    3) Paul Barking Dog Stoddart

The above three brought disrepute and shame to the sport we all claim to love and enjoy. It will be a great day in F1 when wesee Flavio kicked out by Carlos Ghosn!

Sophomoric, maybe...but, he is far from being insipid, in fact he is one of the most exciting and interesting people in F1...and vacuous, not even close...he is in fact brilliant...he is an expert in recognizing talent and brings the best out of them when he finds them, i.e., MS and FA

I never found him arrogant. Confident, yes. I mean, he is a very smart businessman. I think that what seperates him from other team managers, ect. He has a knack for business.

I have nothing against Flavio. He's done an excellent job, and he brings some color to F1.

I like having personalities in the sport - it makes it so much more interesting, especially when so many of the races are snoozefests.

I think you lost the plot there a bit: Without Eddie Jordan and Flavio it is doubtful your superstar MS would be where he is today. Talented as he is, I'm sure he would have ended up in F1 at some point, but not accumulated titles in such rapid succession.

Besides you're giving too much credit to Eddie Jordan and Stoddart. They might have been annoying, but their influence on F1 (apart from Eddie giving MS a break) were rather minor.

If you want some people to be unhappy about, I suggest:

    1) Mad Max for manipulating the championships (05 as 06) and ruining USGP05
    2) Bernie for removing the fans from the drivers
    3) Jean Todt for throwing in the towel after Silverstone 99 and not thinking as a team player

PS: It is fun using your own language arguing against you. :)
