Fifth overall, no winnings except the honor of having competed against such fine competitors, no tickets.

Full printout of all results is with the rest of the stuff, still deep in the trunk of the car, not likely to surface for another few weeks when we finally get home and unpack.

Crummy photographer only got Steve's back and positioned it in the center of the photo. They need D. Quick to show them how to do it!

Well, of course they got the side of Steve most of us will see most of the time when driving with him. I got more than a few pics of Steve on the rally, all from the same angle...
The last pic is particularly intresting. Steve going only 48 in a 55 zone? How odd is that? I knew if I didn't catch it on "film", nobody would ever believe me.

Steve frequently had to do "cool down" runs so as not to get to a TC with an average speed of 90mph+ ;-)

So you think it might have had something to do with the fact he started 5 minutes behind us, passed us (won't even mention how fast we were going when that happened :)), the stage had an average speed of 48, and at the time, our trip computer showed we had an average speed of 50?

I did finally pass him at a near reckless speed of 56 mph ( I had to go faster officer, he was driving so slowly it was dangerous). It wasn't but a few miles later we did come upon a TC point. He has a sixth sense about these things. Good guy to be out on the open road with.

I have a fond memory of Steve blasting by us and 3 other guys, and have to pull in quickly due to oncoming traffic. Going from full throttle to completely off engages that wonderful F40 feature by dumping all the unneeded fuel into the dedicated middle exhaust pipe for combustion on exit -- creating DRAGON'S BREATH of fire shooting out the back of the beast. Spec-tack-ewe-larrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

We all know he is running 23+ pounds of boost, couldn't you capture the FIRE out the exhaust?

I recall on the Semiahmoo drive that Steve setup for the pass from behind me, pulling in front of me as the engine wind up would build with a pleasant, increasing whine and then I'd see FIRE, lots of FLAMES out of the exhaust!

    Scott,

Those guys were too busy driving, to take photos of flames. Here's one
    from the Dyno Day.
