We've had the 39 Ford since 1974; it's been in the family since 1945. My uncle bought it used in South Dakota just after WW II and drove it until 1954 when he parked it my Grandfather's garage. We found it in 1974 and shipped it to Alaska.

If interrupted ownership counts, my 212 has been in the family since 1954 (I repurchased it). That's 52 years. Can anybody do better?

    Cheers,

    Julio

I had a Toyota pickup for 16 years and 200,000+ miles. I sold it to a guy who told me the truck was stolen 2 months later. It was the best truck I had ever owned.

How 'bout the *least* time owning a Ferrari? You see so many late model cars for sale with just a few hundred miles; who owned these cars?

Alan Jackson lives in my town, and I believe he's gone thru many, many cars including a a Ford GT (donated it to a local school) and a 550 Maranello (I think it was just kept for a few days).

The 246 GTS has been in the family for 21 years now. I was five when my father purchased it. It's hard to believe it was so long ago when I can still remember the day we brought it home so clearly.

My father also still has his 1976 Fiat X1/9 which was his first new car. He took delivery of it at the Fiat factory in the summer of '76 and toured Europe in it with my mother for a month. Although it does more sitting than driving in recent years, I don't think he'll ever sell that car...

With people keeping cars for several decades, and with many marriages not going that distance, the obvious follow-up question would be:

How many people have kept a car longer than they kept a spouse?

On this list, maybe that should be "longer than two spouses?". ;)

I have my 89 Trans Am which I bought in 94 at 60,000 miles. I put172,000 on it then replaced the engine with a bigger one thats hotted up in 2003, its now at 188,000. I have been offered a lot of money for it from people who knew what was under the hood, but its not going anywhere until I have departed this earth.

Robert M. Lee of Sparks/NV acquired Ferrari 250 GT Cabriolet Boano #0461 GT in March 1956 and still owns it today. That's about 50 years now. Original and only owner. Last shown at Pebble Beach 20 August 2006.

I got one better than that my friend bought his 78 308GTS new and it has less than 10000 miles on it. It sit so long mice built a nest in engine bay and when he did start it it caught fire. He got it repaired and later garage ceiling fell on it damaging it once again and again he got it repaired. Still sits in garage.

Me I have had my BMW Z3 since January of 97 got 60,000 on it. I bought my Ferrari 2 years ago and have put about 6000 miles on it so far it is a 80 308GTSi. Wish I had known about this sight before I bought it I have gained a wealth of information on what to look for before purchasing an older ferrari here and mine had several bugs I had to fix. But I have no intention of ever selling it now.

Still have my 1st car (FIAT Bambino) bought Feb 1978; currently in for a facelift but driven regularly otherwise and will NEVER be sold. Have had the 308 4 years but seems like just a minute - still love it. However, I do acknowledge that I won't be able to keep it forever as the clutch and steering will probably be too heavy for an old lady!

At least 2 guys in Australia that I can think of have Fcars that were bought new by their dads in the 70's and I doubt either of those will ever be sold either (Horse and 360C).

that reminds of why I keep a cat as a pet in my garage ...
Once my car's wires, hoses & sensors were eaten by mice too.
but a CAT takes care of that ever since.

I shipped it from Spain and had it federalized. As soon as it was titled I replaced all of the euro stuff. I built the motor once and painted it after it sat out in a hurricane in the early 90s. the car now looks and drives as new. Tight as the day she was born.

Correction: my uncle bought it before the war in 1940, it's been in the family for 66 years.
