Both cars are gorgeous, arent they? :) Who knows waz......Maybe he is a Ferrari/car 'collector'. Maybe he never has time to drive them. Maybe he cant afford to maintain them after he bought them. One thing is for sure, that is alot of money in cars sitting there if they are not being driven. Thats probably why they are now being sold. :)

Maybe so with the F40. But what about the 11 year old 512TR with 612km on the clock?? :D What a waste!!! The car will probably be more of a hassle to own/drive now than a 512TR with 30,00km on the clock.

the term wanker comes to mind, all this low km stuff is great in a museum, but one thing is for sure the less u drive it the more it costs to repair, mechanical things need to be used, bit like your dick, if u dont use it, it will fall off, look what happened to the pommy grease monkey, his fell off and he gets all angry and starts a war..............which he lost BTW

yep, you cant register an f40, but 1027km in 16 years? think permit, or track day or classic adelaide. both of these things would cost a fortune to be made reliable to drive now. give me a regularly used 30,000km car over either of these any day.

    yep, useless.

i mean we forgive goober/me for not putting miles on cars because there's too many, but ownership of those cars amounts to nothing more than dating a hot blonde for the sake of telling your mates, not coz you actually like her.

and wot...? $270k for a TR ??? pull the f*cking engine/gbox out and give it to someone who'll use it, then flog the shell to a museum or an MR2 owner for $20k.

for a 'driver', that car is worth $110k tops, too much werk to be done.

But would you be willing to part with the same amount of money with a 30000km F40/512tr over a low km one?? ie: if there was 2 of each car avaliable on the market...

legit docs are better than dollars.... so, for a car with more history and use than someones shed, *properly documented* and accountable (difficult to ascertain i know) is definitely worth more to me than a museum piece.

from another seller in sadelaide there is a tr with 31,000km for $135k. of the 2, if they were the same money, i'd pick the one that has been used. if i wanted art, i'd buy a painting, but for fcuks sake, what are cars made for? like Ash said, both of the listed, low mileage cars would be money pits to try and use.

budget a full rebuild/replacement of anything with rubber and hydraulics attached....

but then i'm a bit er... different than most. last time i bought a set of 'rally' cams for my car, i pestered the guy i bought them off to tell me stories about the car it came from... not for the sake of condition, just to see where a simple part of my engine had been and what it had done. :p

Hey I agree with you, about driving cars bit over art, but the market is made that low km's demands better price, soo now the owner is selling both he can demand $100k premium over the high milage one you mention, even tho the motor on the high milage one is prob in a better nick.

Im guessing the owner has an array of cars and driving the same car more than once a week might be a challenge for him :p

yeah i take that into account before calling someone a tool as well.... :p but still, asking double the market value? how many truly uninformed buyers are there at that price level?

hey, wanna buy an X1/9, going cheap at $97k...

sorry, i'm still getting used to this type of ************. the high mileage car is a 1988 model with 31,000km, so less than 2,000km/year and considered high mileage. my 356 arrived from the US just over 2 years ago with 155k miles on the clock. it's now reading 167k miles (not km). and i don't consider that high mileage - i call it fun!!! i like hearing that Moretti is DRIVING his car down to mexico to catch the boat overseas for the national rally, or that MHH did 30,000 km in 18 months his first G car. yes they're exotic, but they're cars!!!

Maybe if I spent less time driving, I might be able to afford a line-up like Lindsay Fox's. :D

Same as if you didn't go to Alice, you could have bought/invested in more of whatever.

A quality experience is always much better than a vicarious one like occassionally looking at a bunch of polished cars in a shed.

Treat them mean to keep them keen I reckon.
