If he does retire, I am happy to say that I got to see every single race that a 7-time World Champion participated in. It will probably be an awfully long time before his records get broken. I feel priveleged to have witnessed his career. I can't understand how someone who calls themselves an F1 fan would see it any other way.

You guys talk as if all other drivers are absolute angels. I don't feel that Schumi did anything more than any other driver out there. Of course, the spotlight is always on him, so every single thing that he does gets scrutinized under a microscope.

He is so completely dedicated and talented, he deserves every one of his WCs. I will miss him, and F1 will be the loser when he goes.

Yes, I would agreee with you. Remember Senna's behavior?

In the new F1 magazine, many prominent F1 individuals were asked to comment about Michael. From Mario Andretti, current team principals, former drivers, to his fellow drivers today.

The ONLY one to say anything bad was Jacques Villeneuve. Not Pat S from Renault, not the other drivers or team owners. Interesting though was Ralf's comments. He said there was so much difference in their ages and family life growing up, he does not really know his brother.

At any rate, considering his high number of achievements, when compared to his infrequent human frailities, his memory should be one that is positive to all of us.

His opinion hasn't mattered since 1998. THAT is one driver that I'm glad to see gone.

I for one will miss Schumacher, but if anybody deserves a long and happy retirement, he does!

say what you will about all the "cheating" and other things, but he has been one hell of a driver, and moved the goal post so far that it will take another 20 years for someone to eclipse him.

If he is done this year, I hope he can go out as Champion, but if not, he still will be my personal favorite champion! think of all the drivers that went to Ferrari and collapsed - Prost included, he had the determination to stick in there and make it happen ... which for me sets him far above Senna, Stewart, Lauda, Prost, Piquet, Clark, Piquet etc.... none of those guys went to a team and turned it around like Schumacher, say what you will, but we have been watching a racing GIANT! who's true greatness is yet to be discovered. after all who will everybody hate!, cheer for, complain about, etc... Kimi? Alonso, Button, there is no body from the old school of F-1 left except Schumacher... when he goes ... it will be the end of an era, and perhaps the end of a generation of F-1.

or at least that is the way I see it!

Just to clairify, ESPN is reporting based off of Bild's story.

BUT, the proof that it is true is that Renault annouced they signed Hekkei, which means Kimi goes to Ferrari, which IMO only happens if MS isn't there.

I don't think he is anymore a cheat than anybody else in F1. He is IMHO He was just a fierce competitor and would push the limits Whether it wasthe Rules, Car or His Ability to win. To me that is what it takes to be a Great driver. I will miss him F1 is definitely not going to be the same without him. I hope Kimi is coming to Ferrari I beleive he has the same Drive Michael has and will be the best choice for a replacement.

If he retires, it will be a sad day. He is one of if not the greatest drivers ever.
I will follow Ferrari but it won't be the same for me.

...Just like when Michael Jordan retired from the Bulls.

I think he will stay one more year. Just look at the competition for next year. Ferrari and MS know the potential advantage.

IMO thats still a possibility. I can see Kimi wanting to prove he's faster than FA with equal equipment.

The battle between Kimi and FA would be awesome. But IMO it would end up being another run away season for Ferrari, the McLaren just isn't fast enough.

Although with Fisi and Hieki at Renault it may be a run away season anyway....
