Doing track events, rallies etc has left me seriously bored driving on the street . Anyone else feeling the same out there? I never was really into the "flash" part of FCar ownership(I'm in my 13th year) Any suggestions?

High speed cop chases and loading the car up with strippers are out so anything else is appreciated..

    Ciro Izzo,

Agreed about public road driving being boring, though heard a very true statement from the Watkins Glen Trackmaster classroom instructor this past weekend. "Public road driving is about social interaction, track driving is about increasing your skill level."

Only fools and idiots drive on public roads at excessive speeds and unsocial mannerisms. Agreed with chase18303 that you should do more track events... or perhaps buy a proper spec race car (open wheel perhaps) and truly race in SCCA or the like. Saloon cars (Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, etc.) are fun and all, but they are a very far cry from what is possible given four tires and an engine. Quite a few open wheel cars easily outperform the Ferrari Enzo and at a much lower cost of entry and service.

Get a lower-performance car for the street and drive the snot out of it. Imagine a Triumph TR3, Fiat 500, X1/9, early Mini at redline (and 60MPH)

I am really feeling badly for you...in fact, my heart is bleeding for you! It must be tough to own a Ferrari and be bored! I guess that it is good that I am thankful that everytime I drive down the road in my 360 Spider with the top down I feel just downright good. Do you have any idea as to how many folks dream of just driving a Ferrari once in their life and will never have that opportunity? If you are bored, go get your pilots license and buy a TBM700 for about 3 million. But I don't find it good politics to let everyone here know how bored you are with a Ferrari!

Yep, my X1/9 could be screaming at the redline in 3rd and the cops just giggled as I roared past them at 38mph. ;)

Maybe it would be impolitic if this was HondaCivicChat, but it's not – it's FerrariChat and everything is relative. After all, the boyfriend of the most beautful woman you've ever seen will still have a roving eye (at least), get "bored" every once in a while, AND complain that his girlfriend is driving him crazy sometimes. Some things are universal. And Izzo's issue is universal and is not really related to owning a Ferrari specifically: it is a common side effect of a sports car owner after he gets into tracking/racing. When I started racing motorcycles years ago, street bikes (sport bikes), a HUGE hobby of mine, just lost their appeal. I solved this by getting into vintage bikes including old Harleys - it was a whole different world of motorcycling (going slow!!) that was really fun.

Izzo: I suggest you sell your modern Ferrari and get a classic; it will open up a whole new side of Ferrari ownership. (BTW, it's cool that just profiling and posing don't do it for you; I live in Los Angeles where probably 80% of the Ferrari owners are just showing off their wealth, and it gets pretty nauseating.) Bottom line is that once you've gone fast on a race track, going fast on the street loses its appeal for most people.

Most of the racers I know don't even own a street legal sports car anymore (or rarely drive it), funny, eh?

    You need a vintage car.

I totally understand what you mean about the track and street. The track certainly ruins the street as once you have gained some basic skill and figured out how far the car can really be pushed, you also realise that to push the car in such a manner on the street is suicidal. Its not IF you kill someone.... it whether or not it happens within 1 mile or 3. So that means driving a modern supercar on the street is simply an exercise in frustration. The cars are just to good. In order for the car to be engaging and really involve you in whats going on, you must push to insane speeds. And when you cannot, frustration is the result. I got rid of a 2001 Boxster S for just this reason.

But, I love to drive on the street and I create reason to go for a drive. TOTALLY exciting, not boring in the least. I LOVE to drive.

Hop in a Daytona or Jag E-Type or early 911 and the cars are plenty fast to be tons of fun, but not so fast you have to be an idiot to have any fun. They are engaging, give great feedback, make incredible noises and they demand YOU drive them..... computer engineers need not apply.

Doesnt have to cost a ton either. You get a hotrodded '69 - '73 Porsche 911 that will blow the doors off most cars and be a blast for under $30K.

what is the saying? something like it doesn't matter how good looking the girl is, there is a guy who is sick of putting up with her sh*t!

oh, and go a vintage car. something where the drive is the challenge. it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. :) i can take a 356 through the Adelaide hills, some of the best driving roads around, at legal(ish) speeds and have a ball. the same drive, but faster, in the wife's toyota is just another drive.

Everyday I get into my 79 308 carbed coupe I am in a fantasy world of high-speed Lemans action. I agree that classic or vintage anything is the way to go for having fun on the street. I don't have to drive at ridiculously dangerous and very illegal speeds to have a blast. As far as being a poser, I will fully admit I love riding through the hip college town near us on a Friday night and having people stare and comment about the car. It is a beauty and one of the great moments in auto design history IMO and I love sharing it with other people. When I stop somewhere people always come up and talk in a positive way about how much fun the car must be. They are right.
But the real joy comes when I turn onto one of the many great back roads and just cruise.
If I wanted to start frequenting the track I wouldn't do it in a Ferrari streetcar. The wear and tear on a car ment for the street is awful. As a matter of fact I think anyone that tracks their F-car should have to notify potential buyers.
    I'll take a F430 GT-2 racecar please .

Maybe you misunderstood me. I'll put it like this. I have a 360 Challenge Car that is extremely exciting to drive on the track while my 430 Spider is great for a few Rallies a year and some gatherings. Posing around the street though or just driving it here or there is boring. I live in a congested area . I agree with the Vintage car thing and am in the hunt for a nice Daytona. I have some old muscle cars that are fun from stoplight to stoplight and I drive a GT2 everyday. I also have a Hayabusa that is slightly quick. So, am I a car nut and Ferrari nut in general ? Yes...Am I looking for other levels to expand to? ALWAYS !

Take a long road trip in a Ferrari though twisty back roads, its the best, you really get to know the car and see unusual different little towns where most people have never seen a Ferrari in person and even will get excited over seeing almost any Ferrari.

Ferraris are in there element on road trips.
