Value adding is what I would call this project as most of what is being done is over and above what was provided from the factory. this car could never be concourse but is definitley an art form and in many respects better than the original.

Like I said when I started, I never wanted to make a concours car. Just having fun, doing it the way I want to. As far as it being over and above the factory I've used all the parts that came with the car so far, just cleaned, powder coated and replated and replaced worn parts such as bushings, seals, hoses etc. I may be putting a little more care into it than the factory did. They didn't have the luxury of no time limit. I'm trying to use all the original parts, maybe finishing them a little differently.

Can anyone identify the shade of metallic blue on the second car? Unfortunately it is largely hidden by my blue scuro dino, which I regretably sold.
p.s I think the blue dino met looks fantastic

A lady friend visited our home this weekend and wanted to see the Dino, which we had just polished up for a shoot for the local Shell calendar. I have halogen lights in my garage, which flatters the paintwork and curves.

She took one look at the Dino and gasped. "That's the exact shade of blue - with some metallic - that I've been looking for for my eye shadow!" she said.

I told her it was Dino Blue Metallic.

This is all true, I'm afraid.

Omgjon, I write from the UK where a friend has been telling me about the work you are doing to your GTS.

I had to look at your pictures, in fact so impressed was I that I spent the whole evening and well into the small hours studying every one of your photos. I know that is really sad of me!!

To say that I am impressed is a massive understatement! Your work and dedication to the project deserves an award!

I tried the same with my boys and an old rusty camper van, fairly soon i was alone in the cold wet english spring, the boys indoors. Your son is clearly motivated too.

Please do not be offended but could you tell us how you manage to afford so much time, and money! what is your background? Are or were you an engineer for instance?

Please tell us if you are in any way qualified to carry out this fantastic work.

Have you done this sort of thing before?

Many Many people are talking about this project over here, please help me to fill in the blanks.

    I watch in eager anticipation.

    Steve

I'm a total amateur. I have never tackled anything like this before. In fact I use to throw away the directions before I put anything together. I have a special passion for Dino's and another secret passion for another car I will be revealing soon as I'm having so much fun with this project, I thought I better line up one for after this. I'm 54 and sold my business a few years ago so my schedule is not too demanding. I put more miles on my bicycle than on my cars. My background is in Outdoor Advertising. I've never paid anyone for something I could do my self. There are enough resources out there that the project is really straight forward if you just take your time and tackle one project at a time. Today I checked on the finish metal work, which I cannot do and picked up parts from the powder coater. Tomorrow if the special socket comes it's back to the engine. I do have someone who comes over to supervise me in that. For sure the most complicated of the tasks.

Jon - I meant to post this prior to your receiving the special tool. Take note of the orientation of the flat roller bearings that sit between the transfer gears and the housing. One side of these bearings have a ridge for oil flow, while the other does not. The book mentions that upon reassembly, the ridge should be facing the housing (I think?). Did you happen to notice the orientation upon disassembly?
