have a friend in the rally , corner was an 8 left into 5 right . 7' , 8's and 9's are 4th gear fast corners . road was wet and lots of loose gravel , recipe for disaster . targa WA is a quick targa , targa tas is mainly 2nd and 3rd gear corners . quick enough to crash but walk away jobs

Witness tells of Brock's fatal crash
    September 08, 2006 04:30pm

AUSTRALIAN motor racing legend Peter Brock appeared to lose control of his vehicle on a tight hairpin bend before slamming into a tree, a witness to the fatal crash said this afternoon.

A spectator at the Targa West rally in Western Australia, identified only as Jock, told Philip Clark's program on Macquarie Radio that he was standing just metres from the site of the accident.

"The back end just slid out and that was it, it was all over," he said.

"The car didn't roll, the back end just slid out from behind him and slammed straight into a tree and it got him right in the driver's door."

AndrewWA is competing as many of you probably know, he says that the remainder of today's stages are cancelled, and they're heading back for a briefing now but at this stage it seems like tomorrow will go ahead.
He also mentioned that an M3R rolled on the same stage.

reminds me when lynn stuck it in at buller and his son nearly died . the mood was very ordinary that night and that was the last day of the event. no fun to be had in WA now for the remainder of the event . everyone will be going 5/10ths from tomorrow . i reckon some will just go home

that was a very somber day. even those of us in the Porsche touring group were well aware of what was happening. there is still 2 full days of competition to go in WA too. there will be a few toasts to the man in Perth this evening.

Whocares? Really, why does non-human things take president(correct use of word?) over human lives?

We didnt seem to mind taking over Australia from the abos why are trees more special then humans?

1 Human life > all trees.

Very sad, but these are the risks we take in life. RIP, he always seemed like a pretty nice bloke (I met him a few times, my brother had the chance to ride for a few hot laps with him back in the days he was driving the 850 Volvo)

    "Precedent"

And your views are moronic, so I really hope you were trying to be funny.

Very sad news, RIP Peter Brock. :(

I was listening to an interview on the radio just this morning before the first stage, couldn't believe it when a few hours later I was told he had been killed.

I hope fans get out in force on the weekend to watch the rest of the rally, I'll be out there on Sunday for the Chittering stages.
