So guys what is the most amount of miles you have gotten out of a tank of gas in your Ferrari?

For me I just got 439 miles out of a tank in my 348, and I had about 1 1/2 gallons left. The 348s hold 23 gallons but the light comes on when you have only used up around 17 gallons. I decided I wanted to see how far I could go after the light came on. I'm guessing I can get about another 20-30 miles out of the tank the next time around, maybe ever further if I keep my foot out of it.

The book says the 348 gets 24mpg/highway. So theoretically speaking I should be able to get 552 miles out of a tank before it runs dry.

How about the rest of you guys?

I cant afford to fill my tank up.........
Seriously, I have never filled my fuel tank right up, so I do not know. The 348 workshop manual I have here states that the 348 has a 95 Litre fuel tank, which is US 25 Gallons or UK 21 Gallons. They have a 20 Litre reserve in the tanks. Some more fuel economy specs.......

    348 without Cats-Urban Cycle-15.96mpg
    At 56mph- 36.69mpg
    At 75mph- 28.53mpg

    348 with Cats-Urban Cycle-14.41mpg
    At 56mph- 33.63mpg
    At 75mph- 29.73mpg

    348 without Cats-Urban Cycle-17.7 L/100km
    At 90km/h- 7.7 L/100km
    At 120km/h- 9.9 L/100km

    348 with Cats-Urban Cycle-19.6 L/100km
    At 90km/h- 8.4 L/100km
    At 120km/h- 9.5 L/100km

That is good fuel economy.............until you stomp the loud pedal. :p

27 MPG on the tank before last, 15 on the last tank. Really makes a big difference how and where you drive.

I've mesured MPG once or twice. I've never tried to see how many miles I get out of a tank. It's probably around 225 to 250 though. Usually, it's, "Holy ****. I'm out of gas. Gee it seems like I just gassed it up. Now what's wrong?" My gas mileage is a little lower than book mileage, and that's usually the case. If I stay out of fourth and third gears then I get better mileage, but that's really hard to do on the Oregon Coast. My car, to save you guys the trouble to look up my profile, is a '77 308 GTB.

I usually get around 10-12 mpg; but once when out with Shark49 for a more spirited-run....I got 6 mpg. Yes 6, that is not a typo.

I typically get about 14 mpg around town, but one trip I took from Denver to Omaha Nebraska netted 17mpg in my 550 Maranello, at an average speed of 101 mph! Not bad I thought, actually better than my turbo deisal pickup, if the govenor would let it go over 100mph that is.

I have gotten about 21 mpg on my best mileage tank in the 348. Typically it is between 18-20 mpg. I usually fill up right away when the light comes on, and it takes about 16-17 gallons. I am glad to know the other 348s get the light very early also.

I've gone about 320 miles on a tank and only taken 18 or so gallons. I've got a 25 gallon tank so I guess I could go quite aways depending on my driving. This was on my 360.

I'm always afraid of letting the gas go past quarter tank to find out. I have heard you can save your fuel pump by never letting past quarter tank.

I have never considered looking at gas consumption on any of my carb'ed cars. My 308 GT4 is a euro car - larger jets, hotter cams than USA spec cars. I recall 170+/- miles comfortable highway driving. Usually about 3/4 mark on the fuel gauge. Spirited driving with the GT4 has considerably lower mileage numbers.
(I finally have a car that rivals the gas mileage of both my 396 Chevelle SS cars - when I still had them).

But I have to close by stating.... gas mileage has never been a concern when looking for toy's.

Ditto that. I also consider mine a work of kinetic sculpture. And IMHO art and mpg just don't mix. So just get out there and drive and enjoy.

Well one thing that has me curious is why Ferrari puts such inaccurate fuel gages in the cars?

    Seriously.

If they give you a 25 gallon tank, why is it reading empty at 17 or so gallons, when you have at least another 6-8 gallons to go? It really is stupid because you don't truly know how much gas you have in the car. It's not like the gage shows that you have 1/4 of a tank left and the light comes on to remind you to fill up. No, the gage reads empty. It seems that the "reserve" is nothing more than a bad fuel gage. So instead of making the gage accurate they call it the "reserve". Unlike most other cars were the fuel gages are pretty accurate. Like in my Expedition, when the fuel light comes on I have just enough to make it to the next gas station, around a gallon remaining. So when the light comes on in my truck I KNOW I had better get gas or I'll be sitting on the side of the road.

Would it be possible to retrofit the float in the tank with one that is more accurate? Or how about modifying the current one? I really don't like not knowing how much gas I have in my car. Which is part of the reason I am pushing the 348, to see actually how far I can go on a tank of gas.

I wouldn't do that, god knows what rubbish is at the bottom of tanks in cars that don't spend much time on the go.

As for mpg, I mean c'mon this is a Ferrari. I'm lucky if I get 250 miles out of my 348 GTC so I have no idea how you lot can get over 400! You must drive like a bunch of girls! ;)

I also hardly ever fill the tank to the top, it dulls the performance. 1/2 way full or nothing that's what I say..

    ;)

Oh don't think I don't get on it. That milage was with a few of runs up to 120mph, and a little bit of steady driving at around 100mph. But for the most part I was trying to drive at 65-70mph.

Well, that is amazing. I'm wondering if Euro cars have smaller tanks.

The fuel gauge really is dire, I agree with that. Doesn't go full when the tank is full, light comes on when it's showing a quarter of a tank. Used to it owning british cars but sometimes I reckon i'd be better of using a stick for a fuel gauge!

    No kidding!

I have always reset the trip meters on all my cars. Then when I fill up I'll calculate what kind of milage I got. On the tank that I got 439 miles out of, it came to just over 20mpg. I'm gonna see how far I can go TRYING to keep it at 65mph on the highway. It is so hard to keep your foot out of these things. I really love hearing it sing. But I think I can muster the strength to keep my foot out of it, maybe.

Ah, dont feel bad. My 308 seems to read empty at around the half empty point, so I have one hell of a reserve. Maybe Enzo dont like his cars running out of fuel on the side of the road? Starving in hard corners? With two tanks on either side I could see a lot of fuel running across to the outside tank in a long corner and emptying the inside tank. A long hard left could run you out if you were below half a tank.

But as for how far I went on a tank? Not a Ferrari, but my current record with the Jeep is 5700 miles on one tank.

I never ran my 208 that low on fuel, because the fuel gauge didn't work. However, I did regularly get 28mpg on a run.
