Hello all! Posted this in the 328 section as well but seeing as I'm UK based I thought I'd repost it here too Just thought I'd introduce myself as a new UK based 328 owner (and yes, a female one at that!) After wanting a Ferrari ever since I found out what they were as a little kid I have finally taken the plunge and picked up last weekend a 1987 328 GTS in Rosso (of course!) with Nero interior. The car used to belong to fellow FerrariChat member geofflowe and I all I can say is that he has looked after it with the utmost care and attention, since for its 50K miles it is in fantastic condition and drives beautifully! I've already done 300 miles in it which is getting on for a significant chunk of my limited mileage insurance policy and I am hoping to take the car touring in Europe next year, including of course that trip to Maranello I have always been promising myself but which of course can only be done in a Ferrari! I am a bit of a petrolhead altogether having also owned a TVR Chimaera and also currently own a Caterham Seven, which is now likely to be used mostly on track days, but owning a Ferrari has always been my ultimate petrolhead dream and now I've finally achieved it Apologies in advance for all the dumb questions I am sure to be posting on here as not having owned a Ferrari before I'm sure (like Caterhams) they all have their own idiosyncrasies and individualities Oh...... and while I would hardly be able to make a living as a car mechanic, my experiences with Caterham ownership mean I do actually know an alternator from an anti-roll bar - so while I may be blonde and female I also hope I will be able to get something out of some of the more technical discussions too
Welcome aboard - enjoy Oh and I think the traditional greeting here is to say : This thread is meaningless without photos !
Welcome, My wife will be pleased. She is the registered owner of our car and is always looking over my shoulder asking is there any other lady owners on fchat. You should go to the FLM run in October, we will be there and have also booked our lunch. Fantastic cars all over London, it looks like real fun! Check it out on UK events, you can see last yrs pics. Regards Mark...
Well I guess I'd better add some meaning then - so here's one photo I took at the weekend. Was only taken with a point and shoot and not with my proper photo kit (I'm a very keen photographer - lots of subjects, not just cars!) but I think it just about sums up that fantastic roof-off summer sun and big grin feeling I get every time I get into the driving seat or even just look at this car BTW Mark 308 gt4, I'm very glad to hear that your wife is a fellow lady owner - I did wonder whether there were any other female owners and drivers here as in my (admittedly rather short!) experience so far of Ferrari ownership I certainly haven't seen any yet - though I have got a few surprised looks as I've left some rather shocked male drivers behind on those nice little B roads with the exhaust note wailing in their ears! yeah, welcome. Thats a damn long driveway you have, and a kinda funny looking garage at the end, but nice grass
Nah!, thats a mockup of the Arc De Triumph, she's going to film an english version of C'etait Un Rendezvous
328 and a cateringvan, welcome to the club! Although mines a westfield, same thought pattern though Enjoy them both, good to see some females using the cars as they're supposed to be used Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hey FastLady, and welcome! Strangely, I've been thinking a lot about Geoff's 328 recently. He and I got talking at the Bristol Italian Car Day in, er, Bristol, this year. He'd just had an engine out service and complete engine bay overhaul redone by Emblem Sports Cars ('twixt Bournemouth and Poole) and it looked just fantastic. I quizzed him a lot about it both at the time and since. I was so impressed I've had nearly the same treatment on mine - but not gone as far as getting your lovely steel braided hoses fitted everywhere. So many Congratulations - You have one of the very nicest 328s around! Best Regs, Rich R.
Welcome fastlady, i wouldn't mind seeing some photo's of your engine bay with the braded hoses etc , could you post some when you've got a minute , Cheers Dave
Lady Valeria drives 308GTB #22641. And Princess of Quitealot, Amanda, will inherit 308GTB #20405..... Welcome! Bubba 308GTB #22127 The World's Fastest Art Car as seen in Cavallino #133 Image Unavailable, Please Login
Welcome to the board Caroline, the car looks great, enjoy! Hmm, I just realised this thread is a year old or so, nice one BigTex!!! regards, Matthew
Well I am normally a bit of a lurker here, but I posted something a couple of days ago on one of the Pebble Beach threads in the general forums so I think BigTex has found me out! Geoff - the car is still running beautifully and I absolutely love it. Can't believe it's almost a year now since the deal was done at Goodwood Revival last year! You going again this time? If so give me a buzz (will be there Fri and Sat) - it would be good to meet up and swap notes again! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Excellent - see you there! Certainly hope it's better weather than last year - it's all very cool to dress up in glamorous 50s clothes in the sunshine, but it's not so much fun if it's cold and raining!
Yea, I did follow you over from the Pebble Beach post......sorry! You have to post a pic for us, of your dress for Goodwood!!!! I went first after all........ G'Day, Ant M..........portfolio taking a beating so I'm thinking a new Ducati ST3 might look nice next to the cars! LOL! Not really..... I'm going long......mortgage defaults have very little effect on a guy that lives in a dome tent.....
