    I am about to undertake the fabrication of Jets and emulsion tubes for some early Weber carbs. Does any one know which brass or bronze alloy is reccomended for such an application?

    i know you know "A LOT" , but i have to ask the stupid question :

    did you ask the guys at Pierce Manifolds for any help? thier tech guys ( MIKE???) are super cool.

    perhaps they can help save you some time and effort.

    I agree

    Mile at Pierce fabricates many parts for webers and is the best source of info.

    concur would be better in long run to go with Pierce

    The idea of making your own ET's is the ballsiest thing I ever heard... :)...You must be a master of the 'dark arts'.

    Thank you. We spoke to the people at Pierce back in July and purchased several items. With some of these pieces in such low demand it is not always cost effective for them to manufacture everything.
    Once you are set up to do so it is not difficult. We used to solder up the exsisting holes and redrill them to a smaller size when there was no jets available.
    I am also tuning an Alfa 6C2500 with some very early Webers. Jets for those carbs will have to be made for sure.

    i'd caution against that. brass is a composition of many metals, one of which is lead and can vary in percentage from .05% to 75%. not something you want in contact with gasoline.

    couple of choices,
    Red brass Std No.40 with lead at 4~6%

    Std No. 70A -automotive industry- lead max .07%

    Naval brass rod Std. No73, a litttle more expensive but far more corrosion resistant than comercial grade rod No.72. lead, max 0.2%

    Seamless brass tube, Std. No74 B, or C, you don't want A, or D,.

    or go copper,
    Copper Std. 75 are used for general engineering purposes, including gasoline, hydrolic and oil lines.

    who would have thought non-ferrous alloys are that involved :eek: and that's only the start.
