I have a 2001 Ferrari 360, 6 speed.. I need to top off my brake fluid. The factory manual calls for Shell DONAX UB Dot 4 Ultra brake fluid. I'm assuming I can use pretty much any Dot 4 brake fluid, but wanted to double check to make sure there wasn't anything specific to avoid. Also, does anyone know if the stuff in there currently is consider synthetic? I noticed Kragen's has dot 4 brake fluid, as well as dot 4 "synthetic" brake fluid. Anyone have any views/comments? Thanks! Ray
Any Dot 4 is compatible but I recommend a race quality fluid. A lot of motorcycle shops stock race quality. I use nothing but Motul RBF600
Whatever brake fluid you buy I would also compare the wet / dry boiling points, to what Ferrari recommends.
Okay, thanks very much Brian. I picked up some off ebay at a decent price (none of the cycle shops around here had the Motul line). The wet and dry boiling points on RBF600 are both very high, so I'll use that to top my system off.. even though they "brake" it off in you on the price har har. Ray
nah, just topping it off a bit I noticed the SRF from castrol though.. looks like good stuff. But for that price, it better be Ray
exactly.. for that price, I expect a hot girl to bring it to my place personally or at least call and give me 20 minutes of instruction on the phone in a super sexy voice "okay, slowly unscrew the cap, gently poor in the fluid.. that's right baby.. can you feel the brakes stopping better now?" haha Ray
