Is the dealer the only source for replacing windshields?

You mean source for the glass?
If that's what you mean, I don't think so.

I've seen group buys on this site to have new glass shipped over from Ferrari UK for a much better price than buying THROUGH a dealer. As a matter of fact, the cost of shipping was more than the cost of the glass.

Try posting this in the Vintage section and I think you'll find a source there.

    Best of luck,
    DJ

If you are looking for one for your 275 I would call Tom Shaughnessy first and Geoff Ohland at Partsource second.

If you need Ph# pm me on Monday. I have them at work.

They are who dealers go to for cars of that vintage. Ferrari doesn't know what a 275 is.

Sorry I should have been more clear. I got a rock crack on our last F & L trip in the 550 windshield.

    I recently used these guys
    http://www.cascadeautoglass.com
to replace windshield on QX56. Did a pretty good job, and mobile service. If you're using insurance, there's usually a much-lower deductible ($250 in my case), and they send you a check to reimburse some of that ($75 for me). I'm not sure if they can source exotics' windshields, but you might want to give them a try.

Why wouldn't you simply make a claim on your insurance ? This is one of those "no-fault" claims and shouldn't (operative word) make an impact at renewal time ... I can't imagine having to fork over that much money for a piece of glass....

Just what I've been told....can't speak from personal experience. Actually never contacted FOS myself as Carlo is right around the corner from me. My earlier comments should be verified directly as it was all info provided by "others" who have dealt or gone through them for windshields. Calro is simply more convenient for me. He would have worked with my insurance but it was just as easy to pay for it as I was having other work done at the time.

Glad to hear FOS is helping you out Ken, sure they will work out just fine -
