Yes, that was his most embarrassing and funniest moment. Wish him a speedy recovery.

Wonder if the car will be "un-cool"

I love the show and I really enjoyed watching Richard presenting it. I wish him a fast and total recovery. I hope to laugh about his comments in the show again.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity -- the emergency service that airlifted him to the hospital -- is funded entirely by donations from the public. If you have a few dollars to spare, here is a good chance to show your support for the Hamster, the show, and (most of all, literally and directly) the people who saved his life:

This was set up by the people at PistonHeads (large UK car forum) to show their gratitude and support to the YAA. :)

The bbc video news is reporting that the Top Gear show has been delayed indefinitely, but they speculate that it is pending Richard Hammond's recovery.

"anything capable of arousing passion in its favor will surely raise as much passion against it." -- Hemingway (on bullfighting)

I'd like to think that the beeb has the guts to stand up to the self-appointed censors. But then, look what happened to the Benny Hill show. (BBC America gets its BH reruns from Australia.)

I really hope he heals quickly. Top Gear is my favorite show, such a shame speed cant air it. There is definitely plenty of shows they could drop to make room for it. Hammond is a great addition to the show. Wouldnt be the same without him. Hes the "hamster."

I'd like to set the record straight here. Consorship in the UK is a non-issue as far as the BH show is concerned. The simple fact is the British people, with good reason, ceased to find Benny Hill funny a loooong time ago. Like the "Carry on.." films, when that "saucy" style of comedy was seen as risque and titilating -- they seem rightly anachronistic today. Audiences in the UK turned away from that style of comedy to Morecombe & Wise, Porridge, Young Ones, Not the Nine O'clock News, Fawlty Towers, One Foot in the Grave, Red Dwarf, Fast Show, Blackadder and many, many other comedies that time has been a lot less harsh on.
Now, the appeal of the Benny Hill show to American contemporary audiences is something I don't fully understand. But BBC America is a completely different animal to the BBC in general, and they have to deal with a completely different set of "moral standards" for the US market than they do back in 'Blilghty.

Anyway, it's great news that the Hamster is doing well ... hopefully he'll be back on his wheel anyday...

    Clarkson:

"Two years ago, Richard Hammond, James May and I agreed on a plan of action should one of us be killed while making our show, Top Gear.

We decided that after the announcement of the death was made in the following week’s show, the next word should be “anyway”.

So if the Hamster had ever careered through the Pearly Gates in a flaming 200mph fireball, I would put on a sombre face, say that Richard Hammond had died and then, after a small pause, say: “Anyway, the new Jag . . .”

    Get well soon, Hamster!!!!

Hammond chemistry with Clarkston is GREAT.
Hammond always reminded me of Davy Jones from the Monkeys, anyone else see that?

No need, I think -- he already beat the previous record on a previous run, I think they said.

I heard various reports, but one said he did 315. I don't know the rules in the UK, but at Bonneville you'd have to do it twice within a given timeframe to qualify.

But maybe that's not really the point anyway. Main thing is he gets back to his self and secondly Jeremy wins the fight to keep Topgear on the air.
