I must admit that the quality of your speedo pics at speed are quite amazing. Looks as if you are holding the camera yourself?

    Be safe out there! ;)

Speedman, be interesting to see just how accurate your speedo is when showing 250-300kph. Any chance you can take a GPS with you next time you go on a high speed run?

And to our brothers from Oz, try and avoid the hijacks fellas, please :)

SPEEDMAN: It's clear that you're telling the truth. I never called you a liar, I just thought you were pulling our (collective) legs; no need to be so defensive.

It's also abundantly clear that you are 110% certifiable...

I have a passion for photography,I like to take time for nice pictures.
Time is what you don't have when you're driving fast, but anyway...
It's quite difficult, because the "view" trough the lense is not easy, you don't have a depth view....
You must look in front of you, prepare your camera, try to look trough it without losing eyecontact with the road....hell it's not easy at all...
Also because of turbulences, vibrations, constanly moving positions(hands on the wheel),it's not an easy task to steady the camera...
    But I try,and I think I'm far from bad....
To your question,I am indeed holding the camera myself...
On that matter I fully do agree that I must be MAD.....

    Hi,
I just didn't like the comments about the blocks or dyno-run.
"Haha, another would-be ricer is born" style...
Again,if I say something, you can be sure it's the truth...

Who really cares? Any monkey can flatten the throttle and hold on. It shows very little skill and a severe lack of judgment when done on public roads, regardless of the type of car. Talk about your lap times around a road course and I’ll be impressed. These sorts of picture displays and bragging just make you look juvenile. In motorcycle parlayance, you are a squid.

Sorry to be harsh, but in a week, or month, or year, we will all see a post saying "Bad high speed FerrariPorscheWhatever crash". Everyone will post RIP, Condolences, etc. Someone will post that "hey, this guy was on Ferrari Chat, screen name SPEEDMAN. A pic will be posted of the fiery wreckage. Follow-up will determine that a church mini bus changed lanes at the wrong time, did not check mirror, etc. A few more posts will be made about "so sad for his family and the 7 nuns in the minibus".

I have no problem if you want to go fast. I love to do it myself. You just won't find me doing it out on the highway. One driver makes a wrong move at the wrong time and you're toast. Not my idea of responsible fun.

I'm also sure the the Police in Belgium would be very interested in seeing these photos. Better then speed cameras!

    Try getting to the track.

Hi,I understand your comment and your position.
One of my friends,René Willaerts, died in a car crash/race on the highway 2 years ago....He made the mistake to race,I will never race on the open motorway, that is insane.
Speeding very fast is not the best way to stay alive,I admit.
I often think about my friend, and that makes me extra careful...
I do it only when the freeway is clear for a long distance,or when there are no other car following each other closely up...About the track:I don't think of myself that I am the right guy to go on a track.I don't have the feeling on a track, and would have difficult to "feel" a car,or when it's going to break out f.ex.A car suffers a lot on a track, and I could not "force" a car...No forcing=no lap time...About speeding,it happens only on a long flat road, that I know with my eyes closed, not in turns or where I never been before...I like to drive fast,as many others among us,but when I'm with my son or wife in the car(or anybody else),I limit my speed...never drink of snif...Don't go thinking that I'm speeding @ 300km/h during rush hour!
How it came that I made those pic's?
Well, all my friends in the past told me "I drove this or that car @ that speed" or whatsoever...
I was speeding every day some years ago...
Had my pants full of s.h.i.t. on some occasions(Ford Escort D changing lane @ 130 when you coming full throttle @ 290 etc..)
Now that I'm married and have kids,it only happens a few times in a year...
And when it happens,it's only a few seconds, just the time to take the pic,no longer...I drive every day 200km to drive my son to school, and I see every day all types of drivers out there,I would never go with them, even if you paid me...I happen to go fast, indeed, but I have 100.000's kms of experience behind my by car, motorcycle, truck, semi etc...
    Speedman
PS PM me if you want to contact the Belgian police,I'll give you their mail...

Kind of off-topic but figure it's an appropriate place to post it. I was driving to OK from TX and decided to push it to about 170mph (according to speedo) in my Maserati 4200. As I started slowing and got to right around 95mph this happened. I'm lucky it happened at 95mph and not 170.

    Hi gang,
    Crazy?
Maybe it's good to mention that I started doiing it in full legal condition, when I imported cars from Germany to Belgium, and you all know there are no speed limits in Germany...No law overthere is against the fact that you take a nice shot of your dasbord...So be aware that the older pictures were taken without breaking the law...The later ones is another story...

Without braking the law? Having driven all over Europe, I am familure with the lack of a speed limit on portions of Autobahn in Germany. However, I am also well aware that the police take a dim view of reckless endangerment and driving bordering on vehicular homicide. Clearly there are other cars in your pics. Going past an Opel that is doing 110 km at 310km is reckless. It is not the speed limit, but the differential in speed that causes the problem. Just the same, it is not the speed that kills, but the sudden stop.

As for "forcing the car" on the track, you will not hurt the car. You might wear more parts, like brake pads and tires, but IMHO you are less likely to wad it up in a ball. At least you are straight and sober when you explore the upper speed limits. That is more than can be said of may drivers in the US.
