Well, after some moderate thought, I came up with these.

    -balboa peninsula, like by sharky's
-main and macarthur has space over by karl's or the other main and mac by national's sports bar
-newport back bay, west cliff by the nature park (irvine ave to locals)
-parking lot at golf club adjacent to armstrongs @ fashion island
-shopping mall off jamboree at the 405 (next to houstons and ruth's chris) chaserolls and i wound up there @ a hot rod show one day on our way to mexico ;)
    -irvine spectrum

what is really funny, is i don't drink coffee, unless i am at CC. i got most of my trader joes stuff at cc (when I lived in NB). i have even taken girls shopping there.

I say we get as many Enzos there on the 14th as we can. Just off the top of my head I can think of 9 that we could possibly get there, with some connections.

    1. Armen G- Red Enzo

    2. Other Armen (who brought it a few weeks ago)- Red Enzo

    3. Jose Alvarez- Red Enzo

    4. Cody Liebel (anyone know him?)- Red Enzo

    5. A buddy of mine, owner of ex-Cage car- Red Enzo

    6. Patrick Shim's friend Mr. Brown- Red Enzo

    7. LV_Eric/DotHater- Eric- Yellow Enzo

    8. Mr. Barnes of FMOC- Rosso Dino Enzo

    9. Silver Enzo that has showed up a few times

If we work on it, I think we can get at least 5 Enzos to come.

What about Corporate Plaza at Fashion Island? My grandfather has an office there and it is dead on the weekends. Big parking lots, no RAC’s, and no reason to complain. The only problem is that there isn’t a coffee shop around.

I've seen roach-coach like trucks that are mobile coffee/espresso shops around Lake Forest.... I'm sure one of these types of places would go wherever, if they were guaranteed a crowd...

Good point. Did I hear that Starbucks did that kind of thing for events like CC?

What's the right way of going about setting up a new location? Do you just show up and hope it flies or do you try to get a blessing over it? Anyone that authorizes anything opens themselves up to potential lawsuits. That's why Irvine Co. did not go on record as endorsing anything.(and this is the real reason why they are bailing) The problem here is liability issues. Who's going to assume responsibility for that unless they are profiting somehow? Anyone know of the proper way to go about it? Informal small gatherings may be the only answer unless the City of Newport(or similar) tries to get involved and offers a public place.

Private events with permits makes it more formal and costly, but assures access. A funny thing is that if you set up a film permit, it is usually cheaper than the cost of an event permit in some cities. If it occurs in property that is not city-owned, the process gets much harder with people like IrvCo requiring other insurance bonds and so on.

You must note that Yardhouse and HOP lunches don't ruffle any feathers. These places are also no place near residential developments, so nobody to complain.

If it is just us guys from F Chat, why would there be any liability? Are we that much of a liability every time we are over at HOP or Yardhouse for lunch?

If the show grows to its original size, there is liability, but I dont understand the need for insurance, etc. if it is just say 10-15 people.

I was illustrating the stupidity of large organized events. The formality is not what this is about, and all the subterfuge is going to lose a lot of people. If everyone like this format of just going across the street to the beach, than that should be it, the crowd will be about the same and the hours are better, and there will be some people that don't come because of the ~$5 parking. boo-frickin-hoo about $5, but it can thin the herd.

On keeping it small, that is not very possible, anytime 10 f-cars roll up some place, it will attract a crowd. Finding a $5 parking spot though, hey, it will keep f-cars next to f-cars and not soccer moms in their MBZ's blocking us out.

It might make sense to give it a rest the first week of lock down and just go somewhere else. They'll be on the lookout and trying to bust balls. Let the Third Reich, I mean Irvine Co. think they won. For now ;)

I sorta like the idea of rotating the show through Irvine Company properties each week.... FI, then Spectrum, then Tustin, then CC.... keep 'em guessing ;)

Like a few people have been saying, show up at 9 A.M. and get some coffee or breakfast. How are they going to hassle a group of customers meeting at CC in order to enjoy some coffee. If they do hassle us, then I guess they would hassle me and my Dad when we meet there occasionally on Sundays to get some coffee. If this is the case, they should put up a sign that says "Only individual, lonely people allowed into this shopping center, no talking or friendly gestures allowed, two or more people seen meeting or talking will be escorted off the property by armed guard."

We need to be rational here and just show up when they open the lot and enter as customers, like everybody else does in ther minivans and Camrys.

Just sounds like the Irvine Company is scared and is formaly releasing themselves from liability on paper. That just takes care of it on their end. It doesn't mean we don't have to stop visiting as customers at 9 A.M.

If starbucks makes such a killing at the cc, then they could possibly sponsor it at a private parking lot. Pull up two kiosks or a starbucky truck and bump the cost up a buck per drink. Their sponsorship could eliminate anyone selling anything else at the event, unless they contracted with the sponsor.

In order to organize an event on private property, someone will need to sponsor and buy the liability insurance naming the owners of the property as additional insureds and probably pay a usage fee. That may kill it right there.

If the event is on govt/public property, I can assure you that the city will require at least 1 mill of liability on their form. Govt covers their butt like no private entity in these types of situations.

I think that more people that attend the show not are not even on F-chat, including 99% of the spectators. People are going to show up weeks longer after they try to close it down. From the hot rods, to the classics, to the bikes & occasional T-Rex or Ariel Atom, these guys are still going to show up, flyers or no flyers. I'm not sure what my point is here but let's all just wait & see what happens in the weeks to come instead of trying to find a new location right now...

    just my .10¢

It's unfortunate but you could see the end coming. Liability is simply too great for The Great Irvine Company when there are hundreds of pedestrians with their kids walking around in a parking lot full of high power performance cars. It's only time before someone gets hurt, and some lawyer files a frivilous lawsuit against The Irvine Company for not doing enough to protect spectators. We can try to blame it on The Irvine Co. all we want, but in the end I can see why they had to end CC Show.

    Possible Relocation?

Huntington Beach? Huge parking lots goes on for miles down PCH, long flat roads with sparse traffic. Not too many people at the beach early Saturday morning especially if we park near Beach Blvd. Perhaps someone can make a presentation to HB city council regarding moving the show there and bring the crowd of spectators. There are some food vendors in the parking lot selling drinks and food though they might not be Starbuck.

Recently HB has been trying hard to bring more tourism into the downtown area. I am sure the city of HB can appreciate exotic carshow that will bring tons of people into HB every Saturday morning. HB thrives on tourism, from X Games, US Open Surfing, to weekly vendor fair at the pier. Car clubs have been known to host annual car meets at HB near Hilton for years now without any incidents.

The only downside is that there is a daily parking fee of $10. Maybe we can work out some sort of deal where we could get discounted fee in a specific parking area or be able to 'donate' to charities. If we can overcome the parking fee, HB is the only ocean front location I know that has enough parking space to host *hundreds* of cars every week and has food/drink/restroom services. (actually there are more like tens of thousands of parking spaces....)

Oh man this sucks. I have been coming late to cc anyways and will continue to come at 9am for breakfast. I just have to dress like a customer rather than a race car driver or a Ferrari lover. lol

    there goes my ferrari hats.
I am sure soon the show will have a new home! it won't be CC but the cars will be the same...

I would think this may not be what many people are looking for. IMHO, most of the attendees that bring cars for display or park exotics/sports cars etc. in the side lots come for the people, looking forward to spending some time with friends, meeting others that are 'car crazy'. I am doubtful that the goal is to create a 'show' that is, at the outset, a tourist attraction.

In fact, most of the incidents that have occurred: tickets, damage, stolen articles, for sale signs, vendors, litter, drive-bys, burn-outs, 'corner-workers' and the like can be attributed to non-regulars.

Remember how CC started. Some guys decided that it was a nice place to grab a cup on Saturday morning. It grew from there.

Perhaps a return to a gentler time is in order...

Why the f^ck does everyone keep suggesting Huntington Beach?!?!?!?! HB is a sh!thole of a town. How low-brow can we get guys? If HB is an option then go 10 miles north of that to Seal Beach.

    THE HB New Resident Checklist
    -tattoos
    -wear Volcom or Hurley
    -lifted Chevys
-lots of empty beer cans on your balcony
    -weekly trips to "the river"
-manditory 4th of July arrest for disorderly conduct
    -say "yeah bro" a lot

good point, didn't think of that. if we quietly move accross the street or elsewhere and let the rest of the crowd continue to do thier thing or act out in anger at the irvine co. then it would be come very obvious to them who the problem is. may or may not do anything to save the agreement or location on thier terms but they can't point the finger at us.

the next few weeks will be interesting to watch play out.

I have NO interest in a weekly HIM (Hot Imports Mornings) ... The original draw to CC was it being a meet of exotic/classic, old/new, cars ..... NOT a Car Show. Once it took on the characteristics of a car show, with the vendors, dealers, etc., is when I began to lose interest in driving my special car there. I continue to attend because it IS a pretty cool thing to do on a Saturday morning, but lately, I've been driving my, not so special, daily driver. Of course, I can still get a Jones to cruise CC on a Saturday morning ... it can be fun.

I hope, wherever things lead, it starts slow and quiet. I don't need hundreds of people fawning over my car. I just want to hang out with a few enthusiast.

What I found cool over the past couple of weeks is, driving the Ferr, parking somewhere in CDM on Coast Hwy, 6:30-8:00, near one of the many coffee shops and watching the cars roll by.

There are a number of the original CC guys that are looking into some different possibilites. Keep watching for a memo from MarcG ,Barry Meguiar or myself. We have been invited to a great location in Newport Beach, Dana Point Harbor and a couple of other locations. The thought is maybe go to each on a rotating bases and include CC as one of the stops during the month. This would keep CC off guard as to which Sat. we would be coming. It would take some getting use too but may be the best way to handle the situation. What does everyone think?? Larry
