I graduated HS 10 years ago and dropped out of college 3 times.

I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up.

I majored in Diplomacy and World Affairs -- specializing in African development. Seriously.

I got through three interview stages with the CIA during my senior year in college. I desperately wanted to be an intelligence analyst (i.e. bookworm; politics junkie).

Clearly, that route didn't quite work out for me.

I was going to do computers but switched to engineering at the last minute when I picked classes for college. I was always uneasy with working as a corporate stiff for years, and I bounced around between a few startups with varying degrees of success before I ended up where I am now.

So, no, I didn't really know what I wanted to do.

Yes I knew what I wanted to do in Jr. High School. I started watching CNBC when I was around 12.

Majored in Comp Sci, minored in Statistics. I got a MS in Information Systems. I did some sys admin work. Always wanted to do security work. Never ended up getting there - my priorities changed.

When I was in college, I caught the tail end of the dot-com bust. Now, as we're approaching another "bubble", I want to be the one making the money, not being laid off. As such, I work on websites, managing them and doing a bit of sys admin work here, dev work there.

    That's where I'm at now.

The plan is to make a ton of money then get into teaching. Getting there, slowly but surely.

Then again, I've been tossing around the idea of getting another degree, this time in Computational Linguistics.

    Heck no.

I have a degree in Film, another in Journalism, a third in Communication Studies, and somehow I'm pushing bits back and forth at a real estate company. I still don't know what I want to do when (and if) I ever grow up.

Probably mow lawns. There's never a 3 AM lawn mowing emergency...

I knew I was off to grad school, so I didn't have to choose exactly what yet.

I finish law school in about 14 weeks, and I still don't know what I am going to do. I paid for the bar in Nevada and my stuff is in a storage unit in Las Vegas, so that's about all I have settled (... if I had another job opportunity, they could pay for the exam to be in another state though).

It's been 11 years since I finished my undergrad degree. I went on to get two graduate degrees, worked for two companies, lived in two countries, worked in seven countries and have had five different titles with my current company. I still don't know what next week will bring (but I am looking forward to being home Friday afternoon to drive three Ferraris).

Hang on and enjoy the ride!

I have always known I was meant to be an engineer.

Birthday presents were taken apart to see how they worked.
By the time I was 12 I could even get them to work again!!

25 years working in this field and I still enjoy solving problems and coming up with new designs.

I graduated from high school 3 years ago and went directly to college. That was a expensive mistake. Now 2 years later, I just started (literally just last week) on my Fire Science degree at a community college so that I can be a firefighter.

I recently graduated with a degree in Business Administration and Computer Science from Illinois Wesleyan University. I did work for Microsoft, Zurich Insurance, and State Farm throughout college. I was offered a full time position at State Farm, but was planning on working at Microsoft after graduation (best company I've ever done work for). I also ran my own computer business throughout school and figured I might give that a go as well. As time came closer to graduation I evaluated my situation and felt that a 9-5 job just isn't for me and that I'd strike it out on my own. I am currently in the middle of starting my own company (I'm very far in it already) and am optimistic about this venture being successful. We'll see how it goes in the next few months...

I knew I wanted to be in the computer field while in high school. I took any classes that had to do with computer science, occupational programs that studied computer programming languages, BASIC, Pascal, C, C++ until computer logic finally gave me a headache. After graduation, a part time job as an assistant and some odd-college courses later I ended up at Intel Corp in their IT department. Currently, I'm out of IT all together. I'm now the IT head, marketer, accountant, service department, complaint department, salesman, PR guy, of my own business I'm helping to build up with the ol'e man. I have no regrets about taking the path of working for somebody else, along the way I learned many things and been many places. But if I knew then, what I know today, I would have taken courses on anything that has to do with running a business. After Intel layed my department off, and other tech companies did the same as well, there seemed to be a glut of IT guys everywhere. Not a good situation. So I had to learn what seemed like overnight to do something else very quickly. I knew if I went back to work for somebody else, I was expendable, easily thrown away on a moments notice. That pattern had to come to an abrupt conclusion.

pretty much my plan at the moment; finish my MBA, work for someone else, learn all i can, and eventually open up my own IT consulting business here in the desert. Hopefully there'll be an F40 somewhere inbetween [or after] all that, hehe.

It's either that, or a restaurant/club/place to hangout for the 18-and-under or 18-21 crowd, since nothing of that sort exists here.

I'm borrowing one of my favorite quotes about this topic:
"Don't feel guilty if you don't know what you want to do with your life. The most interesting people I know didn't know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives. Some of the most interesting 40-year-olds I know still don't."

Got a degree in Information Systems, it’s for back up in case all else fails. However, throughout school and university there’s always been one thing I’ve wanted to be, a long distance truck driver in the USA.

    Damn you Jerry Reed!
