Some Ferrari prices dont make sense. You have some 328 GTS models in the mid 50's selling, yet Mid to Low 70's you cant sell a 355 without a long wait. A year ago clean 348 Spiders were being offered for $70 +/-. Now theyre opening up around $65 or less depending how fast they need to get moved.

How can you justify spending $56,000 on a GTS 328 and offering a 348 Spider owner the same money?

Somethings dont make sense on paper, but are happening.

Yours qualifies as scary clean (if I remember correctly). Previous comments not applicable. Scary cleans means "driven but looks like a museum piece". Scary! YOu must not have love bugs up dere in da Garden state...those suckers ruined my old Mustang.

as another owner of a "scary" clean 348.. I can't wait for the love bugs to be gone! we had them thick here in FL this year.

It took me 6 months and about $1500 in airfare and PPI's on cars I didn't buy to find the right one. It will take a while and make you want to pull hair out of your head but you'll find one. I had to go to NJ to get mine.

PS the latest Ferrari market letter has 248 Spyders up 3% in the last 6 months FWIW

I've been lurking here for some time now. Truly interesting threads and obviously knowledgeable Ferrari owners. A great little commune. I'm really trying to learn all I can before making a purchase. It's sometimes daunting getting started on a purchase such as this.

I owned an old Fiat Spider in college. I had it looking and running like a dream. I've only owned practical cars since. (Except for the suped up BMW 540 I'm in now) I'm ready for my sports car again to spend time with, and money on. Just in time for my mid-life crisis. :)

    Any guidance is appreciated.

I guess the first thing I need to do is find a good mechanic in Atlanta.

    Marc,

As far as mechanics go, the best one I have nown in Atlanta for years is Evan Ross (private), he is a genius, and used to work on the cars FOA could not figure out long ago, he is that good. I'll give you his number when you are ready for it.
I would also not spend more than $50K for a TS, that's a great target price. r

I agree 100%, that's ridiculous to see the 328's sell for 348 money, but looks aside, the 328 has this "bulletproof" reputation that most purists and first time owners want, that's where the premium is.
We like the exoticness of the 348, and the 348 is years ahead in terms of performance and looks, and I would never trade mine for even a pair of 328's, my $.02 worth.

Good to hear mate. Hope it all works out for you and you join the brotherhood soon. A good mechanic is like money in the bank. You know you will get the job done right the 1st time, so they save you money at the end of the day by you not being ripped off for poor workmanship or you having to get the job done twice by some other mechanic. :)
Looks like Stephane has a good lead on a good guy. :)

Bought my Mustang in Orlando while in the Navy Nuke program...that is where the love bugs got me. They are worse there then here in Tx in most places. (edit - attempted Hijack police are going to spank me :) ...nobostroms is scary clean too...whew...they should leave me alone now)

No love bugs here in NJ. If you go thru some areas of the state (no where near where i live) youll get some horse flies and big ass swamp insects that will spatter yellow, green and black all over the place. I dont drive in those areas. Up here its just a lot of road dirt and tiny pebbles. When i got my 348 there wasnt a chip on the front bumper. Thats right--NOT ONE. Within 400 miles i had 3.

As an unknown, searching for my first, i never understood when owners said it cant be avoided. Now i know first hand. IT CAN NOT BE AVOIDED.

Still. I got it to drive, not to stare.

That's one big plus.. He drives his car.... I drive mine... cars that sit more than move scare me. Sitting can wreak havoc on a car and the problems usualy don't show up until YOU bought it and they start to appear. Mine wasnt' driven far but was driven often. Even just a 15 minute drive once a week has got to be better than sitting for months....
