Robby Gordon shines on those tracks.

Thanks for clearing that. I really can't wait the Busch races, so I only caught parts of it.

Ending up in an F1 car seems to have as much if not more to do with politics and money than it does skill. How else do you explain the backmarkers in F1?
Given 2 years acclimation time I think you could take the top 3-5 drivers of just about any series and plug them into various race series and they'd do fine. Athletes that make it to a professional level of sports are simply a cut above and most people have NO CLUE how much of that is mental.

    This is like comparing:

An Olympics track and field event (Formula 1)

    To

A village fair potatoe sack race (NASCRAP)

The potatoe sack race might be fun but it is still a big waste of time and enegy!

Even a useless, C class and unskilled racer from F1 has become an overnight sensation in potatoe sack oval racing! I would like one of the skilled racers from merry go round racing to come to F1 and test their great skills in F1!

The reason no one takes you or your arguements seriously is your inability to argue a point without insult or name calling. It is also painfully obvious that you've never experienced any kind of track time yourself, roadcourse, oval or otherwise.

Alonso whom I assume you are referring to is hardly an unskilled F1 driver. That designation would be better suited to Scott Speed. Scott would fare no better at this point in his career in any series you threw at him and that's without throwing uncompetitive cars and teams into the mix.

    Have some self respect. Please.

I was talking about Montoya who has left for F1. In all reality Montoya has made a choice to stop racing at the Olympic level and to start racing at the village fair level!

Even Scott Speed could do well in NASCAR or potatoe sack racing! I just want all those skilled racers from oval racing to start roadcourse racing where they can truely showcase their great skills!

I stand corrected. Montoya, not Alonso.

Race car drivers go where the money is and where options lay for them. The fact of the matter is, NASCAR for all its oval boredom is a smashing success from a business and marketing standpoint. No other race series in America is that healthy. Quite a few drivers in NASCAR would love to be in CART (road course) or Indy (ovals with some road courses) but the money is just not there in those series. They feel that if they're going to risk their lives every Saturday or Sunday they should be paid far more than those series can offer. There is talk of a CART/Indy merger but it will not recover overnight. It is also not a foregone conclusion that Scott Speed would do well in NASCAR. Better drivers than him have gone over and not made a dent.

A stock car is THE WORST race car in the world and Jack Roush of Roush racing is quoted as saying as much. All the engineering and money spent in that sport is for safety and to make the car raceable on a track. It takes skill to muscle a 3400lb 15" rimmed, skinny tired, underbraked, roll cage around a track at 200mph or a road course where the car is all over the place. They do not have all the creature comforts and technology of CART, Indy, WRC, F1 or even DTM.

Furthermore, there are only but so many seats in F1 that are available for anyone at any given time. As I have pointed out already gaining access to those seats is a far more political and monetary matter than it is one of skill.

In anycase, I'm done arguing with you. I prefer to converse with automotive racing enthusiasts of all stripes whose common sense leads them to respect a professional athletes dedication to his or her sport. Not narrow minded groupies of any particular race series.
