I need to change the ignition switch in my 85 QV. Does anybody have any experience with this??? Thanks Mike
The switch has two parts, the electrical portion and the tumblers. Which part of yours is bad? You will still have to buy the complete unit but replacing the tumblers is MUCH easier than getting the whole thing out. Come to think of it, I needed to replace the electrical portion of my switch last year and still have the new tumbler section, complete with new keys, if you need only that section. Paul
^^ heh heh. I met Paul on a freezing cold day in a parking lot in Durham. He did the surgery on the switch in the trunk of my car http://www.ricambiamerica.com/product_info.php?products_id=215052
Mike, If you need the whole switch Daniel is your man. We met in Durham, Daniel coming from Winston-Salem (80 miles) and me from Raleigh (20 miles). Never let it be said that Ricambi America does not go the extra mile when it comes to service. Paul
My mechanic replaced the electrical portion in my 8 with the switch we got from Daniel. No issues for two years now...
I was not aware these parts were available. This is the same assembly, or at least the same internally as in the 308?
Artvonne, As I understand it the switch assembly currently available "fits" all Mondials, 308's, 328's, 348's and 355's. In other words it is the only one you can get. That does not mean it REALLY fits. In my case (1982 Mondial) the electrical pigtail was too short. I ended up having to splice the pigtail onto part of the original wiring. The tumbler section, had I used it, would have required a slight modification to fit in the steering column housing. On the plus side the electrical portion from the new switch fit perfectly on the back of my old tumbler piece. Paul
