I can't believe the asking prices on 430 spiders... I just saw one on Motorcars INtl's site asking $328,000! Let me get this straight - 430's, of which there will be 15,000 produced, are fetching more than Carrera GT's, F40's and 288 GTO's?

Now, I've driven one a bit and think it's an amazing car, but I can't imagine paying so much for one. $200k I can understand, but $300+ is just downright insane.

They will not produce anywhere near the figure you mention. Because of the DOT stipulation, there is a restriction on total cars without child safety facility to no more than 2,000 cars. This covers cars in the 360/430 class. So, what you are seeing is the price of rarity. Most dealers are starved of new cars in the U.S., and have not been provided with anything close to their normal allocations. Also, Ferrari is preferring customers to keep their cars longer - again constraining supply. It is possible prices might go even higher.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Best,
    K

P.S.: Do not work for any dealership - just my analysis of the situation. Hope it helps

just as when 360 spiders came out..prices were in the 300's....and it also reminds me of the time when F-40's went up to about a million bucks...soooo stupid...thank goodness they came back down to earth

What would be genius is to buy a F430 for MSRP, flip it for $300k, buy an F40 and then in 5 years they'll have a $120k F430 and you'll have a $300k F40.

Several months ago I began my quest believing I might pay $10,000 over MSRP. What that gets you is a Z-06. Then I thought, what about $20,000? That illeviates waiting in line for a Bentley GT. Then I went to $30,000, now I can get a Bentley Convertible. I could not find a new Ferrari 430 coupe for under $45,000 over or a Spider for under $95,000. Everyone has a story, but follow them to the source with check in hand and it falls apart.

    Another perspective

If you can source an F40 or 288 GTO at 300K I'll pay cash for them right now.

You're smoking the curtains if you think they'll produce 15,000 F430's. Try less than 5,000 and you are in the ballpark. As for the price...it is what it is. Simple supply (short) and demand (high). Why? Because the F430 is the best sports car ever made. I wouldn't be surprised to see prices push even higher given the even shorter supply due to DOT. Those that have gotten in...congratulations. Those who haven't...sorry but prices look like they're going to remain at a premium.

I don't know about the DOT thing, but I think I have the cheapest 430 F1 Spyder in the country for sale at 265.

I KNOW that ferrari produces over 2500 ( around 3000) F430 ( coupe + spider) a year. How many of them shippes to USA, I have no idea.
So the total sume after 5 production years means that there will be around 10 000 F430 in the world.
In europe the price is high, but not that redicules high.

Supply and demand - the price of a thing is what it will bring. Period.

Now, just to be straight, the sticker on spiders can get to $275+ if all of the carbon is included (i.e., uppper and lower zones, brakes, engine bay, challenge grille) and other assorted items.

So the idea of $100k over sticker is probably not entirely right - $50-75k over, but $100k?

100k over MSRP is correct, my buddy got a 430 spyder at MSRP and it was 220k, a well equipped car, only thing missing was the Ceramic composite brakes.

Yes, I think this is a more realistic number. In '07 and '08 they will ship a total of 2,000, 430's. So for '05 and '06 the number might be 1,500 to 2,000 shipped. So about 40% of total production will be for the US.

Did you mean 320K? I've seen a few listings on the Dupont Registry website between $280K-$300K.

Us receives about 1,500 Ferrari's per year, that includes all models.
Total Ferrari production is around 5,000, again includes all models.

I was just at the Wynn Ferrari dealer in Las Vegas yesterday. They had about 10 430s for sale on their lot downstairs. Not *one* was priced below 320K. The highest was at 399K.

Ok, prices are strengthening for F40's, but when I had last looked them up they were in the low $300's. 288's I haven't seen in a while but I thought the last one I saw was $320k.

But if you want to be a smartass, sure, actually, I have heard of an F40 for well under $300k recently. It was a fixed wreck, but under $300k.

You must be referring to the spiders... I was there last weekend; they had a 2005 F430 F-1 Red/Tan coupe with I believe 5.6k miles for $229k...not a steal by any means, but not a bad starting point either... I was amazed at how many F430s they had total in their inventory...

With all due respect, when you are actually in the market for an F40 or a 288GTO and you are going to spend your own money as a real buyer you might discover that the real world market is very different from the fantasy of what you have "heard". Who's the smartass in this case?. I don't just talk the talk....
