    Hi guys..
how do you guys close the front hood/trunk (i forgot to mention, its a 512TR)

do you guys let it slam down from about 1-2 feet ...

or do you let it sit gently, and press down with your hand/palm on each side of the car at the latch location.

I noticed that there is a little dent on the hood at the latch location, i guess the previous owner would press hard on the hood to get it closed.

    thanks for any tips
    regards
    Manny

My TR front hood has to be pressed down (directly over the latch "U" shaped strikers please) -- even if it falls from the full open position, the inertia isn't enough to overcome the gasket and close the latches.

What model are you asking about?

Are we talking about a nash metropolitan or a ferrari? I see no info in your profile.

My boxer requires a gentle push above each latch as well rather than dropping it.

If this is a general question, I just slam it on the Honda. The Lotus doesn't have a latch. The lock holds it closed so I lower it and lock it with the key. Sports cars tend to have VERY flimsy bonnet and boot lids so I wouldn't treat them like a Honda.

There were very specific instructions from Ferrari to latch a TR but your profile is blank so I really can't help you.

We were very specifically told to use both hands flat and on the edge above the frame of the hood and push down firmly. That frame at the edge is only support the skin of the trunk lid has. The skin is aluminum and largely unsupported otherwise. If you stand back and look at most TR's that are well polished and waxed you will see that area of the lid is uneven. They were not made that way.

If we are talking about a Testarossa , I press down gently on both sides.

i lower my boxer's front hood without slamming it, to keep it properly aligned, then use the palm of my hand to press it gently down till it clicks. Works on all Ferraris such as daytonas, TR's, Boxers, 308's etc...
