Hello Austin Fchatters, I posted a thread entitled "Austin Ferraris" recently in anticipation of my return to Austin. I'm coming in to town tomorrow (Wednesday) for a week to visit family and hopefully do some job scouting in anticipation of most likely moving back in November... Anything going on this week or upcoming weekend? Interview schedule permitting, it would be fun to meet some of you if there's anything going on. Cheers, J.
3rd ANNUAL ITALIAN FESTIVAL - LA PIAZZA ITALIANA - September 23rd, from 11am to 7pm - WoldRidge Square (downtown) Several local F owners will be showcasing their cars. I was, but may have to bow out. HCFC is meeting for lunch prior and then driving to the Festival.
Thanks! I'm not familiar with this event or the location. Can you give me a few more directions for WoldRidge Square? (Don't recall that in Austin...) I'll definitely try to pass by. Thanks again, J.
Well it's too bad BigAl won't be there but is anyone else on here going? I'm in Austin right now visiting and plan to pass by with a friend. Would be pleased to say hello to F chatters. Cheers, J.
Mike, I'll be there around 2:00, 2:30. Will look for you if you're still there. What will you be driving? Cheers, J.
Well, I "only" have a 308 which lives in NYC at the moment and I'm going to look around, so I'm sure you can too
Hill Country Ferrari Club. www.hcferrariclub.org I'll be in my silver Honda Civic. I don't own a Ferrari yet.
And you finally made it over here! Hope to see you out there, but I might opt for some mountain biking instead.
Good to hear from you. I emailed you just a little bit ago to catch up. Hope all is well. Whatchyoo driving these days? Been to the track? I still remember that Honda event at TWS when I was in my sedan. Fun weekend.
What's the known Ferrari count in Austin? Also, is there a Ferrari dealer and a good mechanic or two there? Also, what can you tell me about the Hill Country club? Thanks in advance!
The local dealer is a hair over an hour South in San Antonio. They host events as well. The local mechanic, Moorespeed (speedmoore on this board), who also hosts more than a handful of tech events and participates wth the group. He's very knowledgable and works primarily on Ferrari's and Porsche race cars, but if you have something fast and exotic... yup, he'll do that too. The Hill Country Club - great group, great friends, what do you want to know? Frequency/types of events? Don't forget Peter, we also have an outoor karting track here: www.ironrockraceway.com - and oh it rocks!
I'll have to get back to on a more accurate Ferrari count, but I've been told about 100 Ferraris between the 50 members. There are no Ferrari dealers in Austin, but there is one in San Antonio. We do have a couple of real good shops that work on Ferraris regularly. I'm a recent member of the club, but from what I know it's a group of serious car enthusiast. Most of the members of several different makes of sports cars and exotics. Our current president is a Corvette guy but he also has a Ferrari and a Lamborghini. The Hill Country Ferrari Club includes Austin, San Antonio and all the surrounding areas. In Austin we meet on the 4th Saturday of every month for breakfast and every now and then we have other social events in the evenings. In San Antonio we meet on the 1st Saturday of every month for either breakfast or lunch. We often do drives or karting events before or after the meal. The Austin guys have a karting league, but I'm not sure how active it's been lately. We have an awesome karting facility here in Austin! In Austin we also have tech-sessions at Moorespeed Engineering every now and then and we do other special events as well. Like next month we are having a garage tour where a few members will open their personal garages for the club members to tour them. We will view three garages in one day and convoy in the Ferraris form one garage to another. It's a real popular event.
Schatten & T-Mike Thanks for the details. If I move to Austin, the club sounds like a great place to meet new friends. As for karting, I just sold off my last kart due to my heel injury. I'm out of karting for at least a year, as the vibration of the kart would not be the best thing for my foot (So my doctor says!).
So I was bored and decided to try to count the Ferraris I've photographed or know about in Austin. These are just Ferraris from Austin. Oh yeah, and a Diablo GT also.
wow, thats amazing, do you know of any Ferraris or anything special in the Round Rock, Avery Ranch area, I know there is one Ford GT in Avery Ranch somewhere.
I live far south so I'm not really sure whats up there. I've seen a couple of Ford GTs in that area and I've heard about some 360s and a F430 around there.
I've seen one of the F430's, a red sypder at the Barton Creek Country Club, and I believe there's a white 308 and a testarossa at a car dealership around Lamar and 6th. Not sure if I'm getting the models right, but I know there's two F-cars there.
