These threads are helpful....I was beginning to get very afraid of the prospect of picking up an F355 and actually using it regularly. It makes me think buying a 20,000 mile or higher mileage car might be an okay idea.

Use caution when buying any 355 no matter what the milage is, or what the service history says. The cars are very cool, and perhapes one of the best road going Ferrari's built, BUT they do have very expensive problems, that can put a huge dent in you bank account. IMHO. the car was not tested enough before being released on the market, and the overall quality control of the product was very poor from the get go. The valve guide issue being one that should have been caught in the development stage.

Nobody has said the car is a POS, but they do have expensive issues which IMHO should have been repaired under a factory recall. The valve guide issue is totaly unacceptable, as well as the manifold issue. The dash board shinkage issue as well as the other interior problems is also unacceptable in a car of this price range.

But the car as an overall performance package is very difficlut to beat..it just has some problems that would be totaly unacceptable if the car was built by any manufacturer.

I have 2 355's waiting for head work to come in, and a third is in the process of being done. When you compaire the amount of 355's in Canada, to the amount of 355's in the US, and then look at the number of issues I have seen with a smaller amount of cars, you get a pretty good idea what the issues are, and how often they occur.

But to call the complete package a POS is a bit out of line.

I agree wholeheartedly! I have spent close to $40,000 repairing these quality control issues so far that would have never slipped by for any other manufacturer.

I don't think its too late for a class action lawsuit against FNA if the cases can be documented as a manufacturer defect, owners that have had the valve issues and headers fail and then fixed should be reimbursed I agree.

Just for comparison, the identical 360 mileage thread poll is showing about 75% of 360's as having 25,000 miles or less...whereas right now the 355 mileage poll is running around 59% of 355's with 25,000 miles or less.

I find that to be interesting. This data is good to know.

And 430's are probably 99% having less than 25,000 miles...is any of this really surprising? I find it all rather mundane and boring. So much so, that I am going for a drive shortly, and in the RAIN! Oh the shame of it all...what a world! Adding miles to my car and in the cursed rain! ;)

Well, it's a small sample size, but the 360 poll has more 360 owners over 50,000 miles than does this 355 poll have for 355 owners.

360 mileage can be changed with the SD2. No such ability with the 355, unless of course you apply the age old adage that locks only keep honest people honest.

Mileage can be easily manipulated with any car and in fact California requires it.

So...lots of posts from people with 5,000 and 10,000 miles for some reason....but where are all of the high mileage cars? Are there any with actually high mileage? By this I mean 60,000 miles and above.
