Hey Gang! Who's down for a ride to Laguna on Sat and maybe Sun? I won't be traveling and my right foot is itching (again...). We could meet at Santana Row and then drive to Laguna. Here is the schedule: http://www.laguna-seca.com/Events/index.cfm?Fuseaction=Schedule&EventID=15 In case you missed it, there are parade laps for Ferraris & Porsches at 12:30pm. The fun part... no sound limit during that weekend, hahahahaaaa! Dunno about you guys, but it would be great to be there "fairly" early to watch the Speed World Challenge as well... Gentlemen, START YOUR ENGINES!!!! (A few pics from last year below...) If I don't attend a lotus autocross saturday, I will be at SR, and probably laguna seca. What is the parking situation like there? A friend told me it was grass and dirt fields for him last year, which worries me a little. I could take my 4runner, but I have a feeling I'd lose you guys on the way down there
Free parking is grass and dirt, Wolf hill area probably. The race track web site indicated 2 parking corrals, Corvette (sold out) and Porsche. VIP parking in the lake bed area is also sold out. Take the truck.
Unless you have the Flag Room or some other expensive parking pass, you will be in some amount of dry grass or dirt.
Oh, I should also mention that Mr & Mrs Nizam will be driving down on Sunday. Here's the Sunday race schedule; I highlighted the races we are watching: Sunday, October 22 9:45 am - 10:05 am Warm-Up - Super Stars of Super Karts 10:30 am - 11:20 am SPEED World Challenge Touring Race -50 Minutes 11:40 am - 12:25 pm IMSA GT3 CUP Challenge presented by Michelin - 45 minutes -- Luis, are you in this race? 12:35 pm -1:00 pm Qualifying - Super Stars of Super Karts 1:00 pm -2:00 pm Lunch 1:10 pm -1:40 pm Fan Parade Laps 2:00 pm -2:50 pm SPEED World Challenge GT Race - 50-Minutes 3:10 pm -3:35 pm Super Stars of Super Karts Race - (timed)
Sounds like parking could be problem for the exotics. Perhaps we can organize a more local drive after SR to break in Josh and Harry's new wheels and do Laguna on Sunday with the daily drivers (defined as you like).
Not a rookie question. Well, if it is a rookie question then I am a rookie as well. I have no idea. I paid 400 bucks for 2 tickets to the GT1 championships at Laguna Seca (1 day), but this was in a tent with hors d'urves, champagne, giant TV's, etc.
Hm, that's interesting. Laguna's website says tickets are no longer being sold. But never fear, craigslist has some: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/search/sss?query=alms%20laguna
I'm supposed to join the FoSV caravan to Laguna Seca on Saturday morning, corral, parade lap, Ferrari tent for the ALMS race, etc.
The grass is not bad in fact... There are some good spots away from the dirt that few people know about, then you just take the shuttle, 3min and you're on the paddock. The other years, I got a paddock pass for my car - I'll see if I can get some this year... ;-) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Dude, I wish I was running... I almost did last year with PRC but had no time to prep. Do you think they would notice if I just hid in between the other cars and joined the CUP Challenge race by mistake? Heehee... It will be great to see you there. What time do you plan to leave?
I wish I still had my car to participate this weekend. Yin, will you be at the event on Thursday? I can't wait to see the 599!
No racing at Laguna, but the 1st to get to Laguna wins ;-) I hope you can make it! I'll be on the track next weekend at Infineon (PRC 2006 Event). Anyone wants a shotgun ride? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hey Chris, do you know what time they'll be driving down? It could be fun to drive together... Greg (siver 430) will be there as well.
I have some passes for Sunday that will go unused. If you are just going down on sunday send me a PM and you can have the passes.
