Thought we might be able to start a cross reference thread like the one in the 308/328 section for Testarossa's. Can anyone help out with this?

A great idea. It would be nice to know what we can and cannot find aftermarket/cross vendor as parts for this car are crazy expensive.

"88blktr" just had his alternator rebuilt for 143.00. It's an AC Delco unit. He did the R & R.

The Dealer wanted 1800.00 for a new one.

I know this ain't much, but when I stupidly lost my fuel cap, I found that many fiats share the exact same cap as the TR. No difference. After a trip to a local salvage yard, I now have four. Cost me ten dollars. Uhhh......Anybody need one?

:) great idea with the Cross Ref thread. i will add that i have tried to cross ref other stuff for the newer L and F cars. but it seems to me the cars made after 85 or so ( with the exception of the 3x8 series) used more and more Ferrari or Lamborghini proprietary parts. the early cars are axamples of smaller production and harder times. the early lambos seemed to have lots of borrowed parts. as the cars got more modern and the makers had more $$$, the parts became proprietary to the marque and not "shared" with lesser cars.

i do hope you guys get a good thread going, i wouldnt mind a TR in the future after i get my next Lambo. the costs of the TR parts scares me a bit relative to the cars current market value. bear in mind i usually buy beater to fix and learn on, so no 512TRs in my future!! :)

I replaced the TDC sensor on my 1988 EU Testarossa, the sensor was marked SEN8E, several cars are using same sensor, e.g. Fiat, Lancia,Alfa.
For more info. See attached document from Magneti Marelli.

Testarossa CIS fuel injectors are the same as used on many other applications. I don't recall exactly, but a late 70s VW Rabbit uses the exact same injector. Hard to believe but true.

Don't have my TR's anymore but a BMW M5 or 5 Series brake pad was the same for the front. Same for the caliper rebuild kit. All of the injection is standard BOSCH cis stuff. All of it crosses over.

Just replaced my TR distributor caps and www.allferrariparts.com had the best price by far -- $125 each 144637 and 144638 (website says $120 each, but there's been a euro-to-dollar correction that hasn't been updated on the website). As Jeff described, "they are made by the original supplier to Ferrari....the Ferrari logo isn't on the caps", and they don't have the cylinder number stickers on them although they have the little raised circular area for the round number stickers (and, although allferrariparts tracks them by separate part numbers, they are the same part since there are no cylinder number stickers.)

This thread probably needs a sticky however Rob and the rest of the mods are too busy scolding the kiddies in the NTS section.

Front lid struts try Strong Arm 4025. Got mine from Advance Auto Parts. A little stiffer than OEM, so be gentle. About $25 each. Two years and still working fine.

Rear engine cover I had to go to Ferrari supplier, about $80 each.

BTW I had my alternator rebuilt locally in Knoxville TN for $31.
