I check the Oil IMMEDIATELY AFTER shutdown (100-150 Deg). If checked COLD or RUNNING you will not get an accurate reading.
    2) The Oil returns to the Sump.It is not a Dumb Question.
Many Owners will Overfill if checked Cold. NG !

I appologise first hand if I am being hard, but driving 6 months and 5,000 miles and never checking the oil? I caught my daughter doing this with her 97 Camry, its got just over 100K miles now. She has just started to act really car dumb lately, or lazy. "Brake fluid? whats that?". I was looking the car over and pulled the stick, it took almost 4 quarts to bring it to the fill line. It only holds 6 quarts, so GD lucky she didnt blow the engine. But I told her to her face that she deserves nothing less, and I wouldnt feel real sorry if she had.

While oil provides lubrication, its real primary role is disipating heat. Dont believe me? Watch your coolant and oil temp guages, and see which gets hotter fastest. Low oil level can lead to the pump sucking air in hard turns with momentary loss of flow at the main bearings. Air tends to foam up the oil making it less able to lubricate effectively, and harder for it to carry away heat.

But it is events such as these that have always led me to steer away from the high dollar low mileage one owner cars. You just never know how they were taken care of or driven.

Mine uses 1L per 1000kms or so. I drive it like it should be drivin(hard, but never readline).

My mechanic says its totaly fine 1L per 1000kms. I have ZERO oil leaks.
