I'm trying to confirm some info. If you have a GT4 produced in July 1975 or later (series 2) what color are the numbers on your shift knob red/orange or white?
My 75 US GT4 (VIN 10952, built May 1975) has a black knob with white numbers. I assume, but can't verify, that it's the original knob. Andrew
That sounds correct Andrew. I've seen an article that says a series 1 car, like yours and mine, had white numbers but cars built starting July '75, a series 2 car, had red/orange numbers.
I may be out of the range you are looking at but my 1978 series III has WHITE letter on the shift knob.
Mine ..#10832.. has black knob with white numbers. Given the above posts can I conclude that mine is a series I? Mine has the ferrari badge on the nose...shouldn't it have the horizontal Dino badge if it's a series one?
The white lettering doesn't tell you it is a series 1 car, the build date does. Your car was made in May of 1975 and therefore is indeed a series one car. Originally your car did have the dino badge but someone has changed it. To be truely original you should have the dino badge. However a factory service update was issued in late '75 instructing dealers to replace the dino badge on all unsold cars with a ferrari badge. I've seen series 1 cars with the dino badge, with the ferrari badge, and with BOTH badges.
My S2 has a black knob with white numbers, I have never seen a GT4 any other way regardless of build date.
