You have to swap the whole system, which costs more (and takes more time)then just a chip. Scroll up to an earlier post by me for (some) details.

Hey Husker, according to Ferrari's stopwatch the 348 holds it's own around the Fiorano test track. These are the numbers posted on F'Chat:
    Partial list
    Ferrari 348 Challenge 1.33.00
    Ferrari 575M Maranello 1.33.00
    Ferrari F355 F1 (1997) 1.33.00
    Ferrari F355 (1994) 1.34.00
    Ferrari 550 Maranello (1997) 1.34.00
    Ferrari F512M (1995) 1.35.00
    Ferrari 512TR (1992) 1.35.00
    Ferrari 456GT 1.35.00
    Maserati 4200GT 1.35.00
    Ferrari 288GTO 1.36.00
    Ferrari Testarossa (1984) 1.36.00
    Ferrari 348TB (1989) 1.37.00
    Ferrari 456GT (1992) 1.40.00
    Ferrari 328 GTB 1.44.00
The early 348 appears to perform well. The progression is as 1 would expect. Newer models faster than predecessors.
The numbers that confuse me are the Testarossa turning the same lap-time as a 288 GTO!
    Regards

I agree totally. Maybe "all people" should be changed to "all people of a certain age". I'm not keen on mid 70's music or car design - stuff got interesting for me in the mid 80's.

I have grown to like the looks of the 348.

Once you get rid of the ugly wheels and put some 355 wheels on it the looks improve.

Without the cheese graters it looks like a 355 (especially with the 355 wheels).

    I'd go with the 348.

    I've owned a 328 and now a 348.
I like the interior of the 348 better, it's a little more user friendly.
the shifting was a little smother in the 328 it used shift rods. the 348 uses
cables. but then again how much can you say about it seems they're all pretty much like rifle bolts.
I hated the injection system on the 328 because i'm used to working on
Porsche motronic not CIS. And I like the ignition system on the 348 better.
I honestly feel the 348 performance is better than the 328 but may be its me.
As far as the exterior, personal opnion..
As far as maintenence any car with age and mileage is going to have issues.
My 348 only minor costs, nothing major so far. My 328 had minor problems to with less than 30K miles on it.
Do I regret buying it no, would I buy another 328 no I could have before I bought this 348... I may buy a 12 cylinder
    car though, probably next year.
the comment someone made about how the two cars compared to each other
after time is nonsense if the two cars were owned by two different people...

I respect your post, but would say that some of the panel designs and displays in the 348 interior are actually looking a bit '80s, while the 328 interior is classic and IMO handsomer (especially the '86-'87 door panels/arms).

Very well put. The 328 is a pretty car everyone remembers from way back when. The 348 screams a bit. Very cool, just different.

Elgin, is there a video of this posted somewhere? I didn't see it would like to.
